After his death, Mantalas’ records were put in the care of Irene Keroglidis. They were kept in storage until they were donated to CTASC under the Greek Canadian History Project around 2013. The fonds was accessioned in 2023.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of photographs taken by Mantalas throughout his career at Mantalas Photo Studio and Camera Shop as well as for his satirical newspapers Η Σκούπα (The Broom) and Ελεύθερος Λόγος (Free Speech). Fonds also includes various photographs and ephemera accumulated by Mantalas in his lifetime.

Arrangement
Original order of materials not apparent as records were in storage for many years before transfer to archive. Little to no information has been provided about the creation nor use of the records during creator’s lifetime. Photos have been organized in series based on estimated decades. Photos that were digitized through the Greek Canadian History Project and the HHF Greek Canadian Archives have been included in their own series as they span multiple decades. Some photographs were arranged by Chris Grafos of the Greek Canadian History Project. See file-level descriptions for more details. Photographs would generally benefit from participatory description to identify people and places depicted in them.
