General note
This aluminum coffee pot was promoted in many National Industrial Design Council programs, including the exhibition "Designs for Everyday Use" in 1949 and the 1954 Design Index, a listing of "good" Canadian consumer products. It was also featured in Art and Industry, December 1949; in Canadian Art, Spring 1950, Winter 1959, and in Industrial Canada, January 1955. The 1992 New Design Source Book, by British design historian Penny Sparke, misidentifies the product as American. An interchangeable set of filters allows for various quantities of coffee to be brewed. It was distributed in the USA under the Wear-Ever brand. The design is an early application of the industrial material aluminum to the domestic market. Its simple undecorated circular shape reflects the manufacturing process.
