“Aldershot” : correspondence re: publication

Accession consists of Bruce Allen Powe's diaries, personal correspondence and correspondence, writings, and other files relating to provincial Liberal politics (1960-1965), journals, his M.A. thesis and research files. There are manuscript drafts for his works "The Ice Eaters," "Expresso 67," "The Mounties Always Gets His," "Killing Ground," "The Last Days of the American Empire", "The Aberhart Summer", and other writings along with related correspondence. Also included are manuscripts for reviews, essays, articles, and press clippings of reviews on his published works. In addition, there is some personal correspondence and World War II papers and military service memorabilia.

Accession consists of records documenting Powe's writing career in the 1990s and 2000s, particularly the writing, editing, publication and promotion of his novel "Aldershot 1945" and the reprint and stage productions of "The Aberhart Summer", as well as records pertaining to his freelance work for Powe Communications and his personal life and family. Records in this accession include manuscripts and other draft writing, photographs of Powe and his family, research files, notebooks and day planners, memorabilia (including newspaper and magazine clippings), printed e-mail and correspondence, posters, drawings, scrapbooks and videocassettes.

Archives : York University : donation of personal papers

File pertains to Powe’s donation of his personal papers to the Clara Thomas Archives and Special Collections at York University and Powe’s financial support for the Kent Haworth Archival Research Fellowship. Records include correspondence, printed e-mail, an inventory, background information and notes by Powe, and a transfer of ownership agreement. Also included is correspondence pertaining to Powe’s donation of photographs to the Provincial Archives of Alberta.

Item is a photo album created by Powe’s family to commemorate his 80th birthday in 2005. It consists of stickers and photographs of Powe, wife Alys, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

File consists of several covers of books written by Powe, which were mounted and framed. Included are covers for “The Last Days of the American Empire” (two different versions), “The Ice Eaters”, “The Aberhart Summer” (1983 printing), and “Killing Ground: the Canadian civil war” (1968 cover).

Fonds consists of records documenting Bruce Allen Powe's work as a writer of fiction, reviews and articles, his work as Executive Director for the Ontario Liberal Association, and his public relations career and freelance work for Powe Communications. Records include journals, day planners, notebooks, correspondence and e-mail, research files, scrapbooks, manuscripts and other draft writing, and career-related memorabilia. Also included in the fonds are family photographs and personal memorabilia; Powe's M.A. diploma, thesis and related research files; files, memorabilia and photographs pertaining to his World War II military service; and photographs, memorabilia and other records pertaining to Powe's trip to Ghana in March 1957 as associate private secretary to the Canadian Minister of Mines and Technical Surveys.
