File consists of folder of letters from Mary Ellen Martinau, Dr. James Martineau's daughter, requesting that Welby refrain from sending her father literary matter to read or criticize as he was 90 years old. Welby loaned letters to her for reference and copying for her biography of her father.

File consists of folder of handwritten and typed letters between Welby and Miss F. Julia Wedgwood. Also included typed excerpts and letter drafts. Topics include: closing her parent's London home; arranging her parents' correspondence; gift of flowers; Welby's injury; semantics; mental suffering; ghosts; phantom limbs, love between men and women; Wedgwood's correspondence with Mrs. Russell [Guerney?]; insomnia; the death of Lord Farrer; Welby's writing; Welby's eye trouble in 1901, and not being contacted to contribute letter for a memoir on Gurney; the movment of plants and a critique of the biography of Martineau. Wells, H. G.

File consists of folder of typed and handwritten letters between H.G. Wells and Welby . Topics include: Welby's attempts to engage Wells in her significs theory (she sent him a copy of "Grains of Sense," "Vital Divorce," and "What is Meaning?" amongst other papers); Wells' own writing (including "Ann Veronica"); and Welby's persistent attempts to meet with Wells in person to discuss her theories (ultimately successful). Includes a typed outline titled "(Supposed sequel to "War of the Worlds". Rough Sketch)." which appears to be by Welby (?). Wells writes from 17 Church Row, Hampstead; Spade House, Sandgate; and Heatherlea, Worcester Park, Surrey. In some letters Welby is writing from Duneaves, Harrow and Station Hotel, Morar, Inverness-shire, Scotland.

Orchestral scores

Series consists of orchestral scores used by the Rex Battle Orchestra. Music sheets contain the parts for various instruments, sometimes featuring Battle's writing or notes.

Lathbury, Mr and Mrs (Bertha) D. C.

File consists of correspondence between Welby and Mrs. Bertha Lathbury and later from her husband D. C. Lathbury, the editor of the Guardian newspaper. Welby reintroduces herself, mentioning a summer 1887 meeting with Mrs. Lathbury "at the Pollocks' Hind Head cottage when Mrs. Clifford was there." Correspondence concerns the work "Robert Elsmere" published by Mrs. Humphry Ward; includes a list of books drawn up by Welby of Christian evidence that refutes Ward's book. Also includes correspondence of Welby's efforts in 1892 to have "Witness to Ambiguity" advertised and reviewed by the Guardian, as well as a series of letters about the Athanasian Creed that Lathbury declines to print. Letters from the Lathbury's written from 11 Markeston Mansions, and the Guardian head offices.

Biographical material

The series consists of Vinci's personal documents and correspondence related to his education and immigration to the United States as Ernst Wreszynski. Also includes newspaper clippings about Vinci and biographical sketches ready for publication. Later accessions include personal and family correspondence between Vinci and his wife, and Vinci and his parents and parents-in-law, and other relatives during the 1930s as they tried to escape Germany. There is some correspondence regarding Vinci's efforts to sponsor his sister-in-law and niece after the Second World War.

The fonds mainly documents Ernesto Vinci's career as a singer and his activities as a voice teacher at the Halifax Ladies College and Conservatory of Music, the University of Toronto, and at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Records found from 1999 onwards are of the more personal variety and include personal and family correspondence between Vinci and his wife, and Vinci and his parents and parents-in-law, and other relatives during the 1930s as they tried to escape Germany. There is some correspondence regarding Vinci's efforts to sponsor his sister-in-law and niece after the Second World War.
