The fonds consist of television and film scripts in which Lionel Siegel played a part, either as script writer, author of the story on which the script was based, or in some production capacity. There are also scripts of productions by others which Siegel has collected, some because he was writing scripts for subsequent episodes of the program. The scripts are arranged alphabetically by title and include, 'Ben Casey', 'From here to eternity,' (1979) on which Siegel worked with several others, 'The last westerner,' with a screenplay by Jack Elam and Siegel, several episodes of 'Peyton Place,' 'Rawhide,' (including script for "Corporal Dasovik," for which Siegel was awarded 'Best western TV drama of the year, 1964,) 'Then came Bronson, (1969), episodes of 'The Waltons,' (1972), 'The bold ones,' 'Hoover versus the Kennedys the second civil war,' (1987) and others. There are also story outlines for possible productions, including movies-of-the-week on American network television.

The material includes minutes, agendas, correspondence, briefs, background material and related items from Borough Council and its committees (Art gallery, Negotiating, Traffic, Works, Conflicts of Interest, Development, Environmental Control, Adjustment), and from the Board of Control and the Library Board. There is material from several of the municipal departments (Building, Clerk's Office, Parks & Recreation, Personnel, Public Health, Public Works, Police), and material from government agencies, federal and provincial, active in the Borough (Department of Consumer and Corporate Affairs-federal, Consumer Affairs and Workmen's Compensation Board-provincial). There is material dealing with housing, including by-laws and zoning regulations for North York and provincial legislation dealing with housing; material dealing with transportation policy and planning, including rapid transit, the proposed Spadina Expressway, transportation studies, and related subjects. There is correspondence with constituents and civil servants dealing with local problems, and correspondence from ratepayers and other local organizations. For his book, 'Responsible government in Ontario,' there are files relating to the methodology employed in the book, illustrations, notes, source materials and bibliography, and general publication files. Also included are personal graduate papers, research notes, correspondence, professorial notes and memorandums.

The material in Accession 1972-006 dealing with the North York Council is arranged alphabetically by subject heading (associations, committees, government agencies, transportation). The constituents' correspondence is arranged alphabetically by name while that from associations and organizations is organized separately and then arranged alphabetically.

Lloyd Mackenzie fonds

Fonds consists of three series: diaries recorded in bound journals kept by Mackenzie during his adolescence and adult life; manuscripts of three works of non-fiction; and photo albums and passports of his family,and his life and travels overseas. Mackenzie recorded extensively on local and international political and social events. In his youth, Mackenzie was preoccupied with fascist and socialist movements in Europe. In later life, he became concerned with the influence of American foreign policy and its impact on Canadian sovereignty. His diaries also reflect his interest in films and the theatre, with entries on the deaths of his favourite actors and actresses and frequent entries on the various films and plays he attended in Toronto and abroad. He also wrote about the tours and activities of various royal families, and chronicled his own travels throughout the world in detail, including his extended stays in Australia and England. Mackenzie kept meticulous notes on his employment history and living environment. He also recorded details of his writing activities and his efforts to publish and support himself through writing. Mackenzie kept entries on his social activities in the gay community of Toronto, his relationships with other men, and later in life, his reflections on gay marriage, same-sex legal rights, the AIDS crisis, and the rights of gay couples to adopt and raise children.

Fonds consists of registers of British vessels employed in the coasting trade on Canada's Atlantic coast. One volume records vessels that arrived at Bridgetown, Nova Scotia, between 1876 and 1906, and the other volume lists vessels that departed from this port between 1876 and 1910. The registers include date of entry, rig and name of vessel, the master's name, port of departure or destination, whether the vessel was carrying cargo or ballast, and the number of tons and crew permitted under transire or coasting license.
