The fonds consists of records accumulated by Roy Merrens as a result of his activities as a geographer, professor, and member of various associations, authorities, and boards. The records have been physically arranged by the creator by subject; the original order has been maintained. They include maps, correspondence, minutes and agenda of meetings, mailing lists, reports, drafts, notes, press releases, proposals, copies of legislation, affidavits, telegrams, statistical data tables, newspaper clippings, journal articles, photographs, slides and a postcard. Also included is a file containing articles and reports about the geography, landscape and architecture of York University.

J. David Wood fonds

The fonds mainly documents J. David Wood's activities as a student, research geographer/historian and instructor. Records consist of undergraduate course notes, research notes, correspondence, maps, and photographs relating to his 1958 M.A. thesis, "The Historical Geography of Dumfries Township, Upper Canada, 1816-1852", his 1962 Ph.D. thesis, "The Geography of the Nithsdale-Annandale Region, Dumfriesshire, 1813-1816" and other published articles. Also included are teaching notes from Edinburgh University, 1957-1961 and the University of Alberta, 1964-1965, and records concerning his consultancy work on the external review of the Undergraduate Environmental Studies Program at York University in 2000.

The collection consists of material related to James Milner's career in the area of community planning law and includes a copy of the article written by Mary Louise Bogart and John Edward Page on Milner as well as correspondence relating to its publication. In addition, there is material on the Town Planning Institute of Canada (TPIC), predominantly materials of a historical nature. There are also several audio reels and cassettes of interviews with planners and members of the TPIC who were Milner's colleagues. Finally, there are some microfilm copies of studies done in the area of land conservation. Some of this material was removed from the Milner fonds during the time it was held by the Faculty of Environmental Studies, York University.

The fonds consists of agendas of meetings of SSSOCCC, correspondence and reports of organizations that pre-dated Stop Spadina, records relating to Metropolitan Toronto Council, the City of Toronto Council and city departments, and the Province of Ontario, including correspondence with politicians, speeches, minutes of meetings, transportation studies of Toronto and other jurisdictions, and related material. There are financial records and receipts from Stop Spadina, briefs presented by it and others to the Metropolitan Toronto Council Transportation Committee and Executive Committee, reports on planning from city and metropolitan departments (Roads, Public Works, etc.), membership applications and membership lists of Stop Spadina, press releases and newspaper clippings, newsletters of Stop Spadina and community groups, brochures, leaflets and related paraphernalia from Stop Spadina. There are audio recordings of Stop Spadina meetings, interviews with news media, speeches and lectures, and of meetings of city and metropolitan councils. There is also a filmed statement by Jane Jacobs and Marshall McLuhan on Spadina titled, 'The burning would,' (1970).
