        <p>The Sussex Area Residents' Association was established in 1966. It attempted to prevent the implementation of a City of Toronto Planning Board proposal to raze the housing and commercial buildings in its area in favour of new apartment buildings. The area is bounded by Spadina Avenue, Bathurst, Bloor and Harbord Streets (Toronto). The plan was ultimately abandoned.</p>
