Joans, and Englishman who arrived in New Orleans about 1830, was editor and proprieter of the Mercantile Advertiser, and married Isabella the daughter of Levi Jacobs on 5 May 1832. He left New Orleans by March 1834. Benjamin, and Englishman who was later founder of the Belleville Intelligencer, arrived in New Orleans about 1830, and married Isabella, the daughter of Lipman Jacobs 5 Febrary, 1832. He left New Orleans and arrived in York, U.C. by the end of 1833. File

2003-060/015(1) Levy, Eleazar, (c.1716-1811) Canada's first Jewish Notary Public, was in Quebec by 1760. In 1764 his goods were taken by officers of the British Army during military government and after eleven years of unsucessful lawsuits he went to the Unitied States. He bought land in New York which was later expropriated for the establishment of West Point. File
