Publication : UofT history proposal : Gidney/Millar

File consists of correspondence and two drafts of a proposal, written by Axelrod, Robert Gidney and Winnifred Millar, to write a history of the University of Toronto, submitted to the University of Toronto History Committee of the University of Toronto Press. A note in the file by Axelrod indicates that Martin Friedland got the contract to write the book, published in 2002.

File consists of correspondence, revision notes, and Axelrod's draft paper, "McGill University on the landscape of Canadian higher education: historical reflections", which he delivered to the James McGill Society on 29 April 1996 and offered for publication to McGill University. Included are overhead transparencies from his presentation, as well as a program for the event.

File consists of page proofs of Axelrod and Paul Anisef's article, "Baby boomers in transition: life-course experiences of the 'Class of '73'", included as a chapter in the book "Restructuring work and the life course". Included is an accompanying letter from the University of Toronto Press, who published the book.

File consists of notes, e-mail correspondence, and policy documents pertaining to the visit of Daniel Pipes to speak at York University and a complaint made to Axelrod about the use of the Faculty of Education's e-mail list, First Class, by the Coalition for Academic Freedom to promote a protest against Pipes. Also included in the file is a collection of anonymized e-mail correspondence pertaining to Pipes' guest lecture and the co-sponsorship by the York Centre for International and Security Studies (YCISS) of the event.

File consists of Axelrod's e-mail correspondence, notes, briefing notes, notices, Government of Ontario news releases, and articles pertaining to the Ontario Ministry of Education's new Ontario Teacher Qualifying Test, the logistics of administering the test to York's Faculty of Education students, and the eventual cancellation of the teacher testing in 2004. Included in the file is a photocopy of a 2002/2003 Ontario Teacher Qualifying Test information booklet.

OISE contract 1994-5

File consists of correspondence, a contract and a memorandum pertaining to Axelrod's appointment as a sessional instructor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), teaching a course entitled "The history of higher education in Canada" in the 1995-1996 school year. Noble, David

File consists of a memorandum entitled "The York University Foundation: the tail that wags the dog (suggestions for further research)" by York University history professor David Noble regarding the composition of the York University Foundation, many of whom were Jewish, and its influence on York University policies. Also included are newspaper articles and press releases detailing the negative reaction to Noble's comments.
