Legal committee

File consists of a proposal by Dr Janusz Dukszta, MPP Parkdale, and Mr Tony Lupusella, MPP Dovercourt, to the Board of Parkdale Community Legal Services regarding the hiring of a Portuguese-speaking legal worker.

PIN conference

PIN community survey

File consists of a copy of the letter distributed to 200 members of the Portuguese community in Toronto selecting them as participants of a survey and a report on the findings of the survey.

Family & social services committee

File consists of minutes of a meeting of the Family and Social Services Committee of PIN, held 11 March; and a letter from the committee requesting that PIN's board of directors approve a statement to be released to the Portuguese media.

Visible and invisible minority parent groups

File consists of the text of a presentation to the Special Parliamentary Committee on the Participation of Visible Minorities in Canadian Society, titled, "Coalition of Visible and Invisible Minority Parent Groups call for End to Racial Discrimination in Schools and for Laws to Guarantee French and Heritage Language Instruction." The presentation was delivered by Shamsher Grewal on behalf of: the South Asian Origins Liaison Committee, the Organization of Parents of Black Children, the Chinese Parents' Association, the French Language Advisory Committee, and the Greek, Italian, Portuguese, and Ukrainian representatives to the Heritage Languages Advisory Committee of the Toronto Board of Education.

C.O.E.D. contract

Keynote speech, project proposal, and meeting minutes

File consists of: a document describing the long-term and short-term objectives of PIN; the minutes from a meeting of the Sub-Committee Liaison Persons, 16 August; the minutes of a PIN Board meeting, 17 August; a blank survey of on the Portuguese community, created by the City of Toronto Planning and Development Office; a proposal for a project to research and document available resources serving the Portuguese community in Metropolitan Toronto; and the script of a keynote speech by Eduardo San-Bento do Couto, translated in English and Portuguese.

Survey results

File consists of the results, summaries, and action plan of a survey conducted on the Portuguese community in Toronto, and the draft and final version of a paper presented at PIN Annual meeting, titled, "The Portuguese Community: A Reflection on Current Trends."

Sim, Podemos : video

File consists of: brochures published by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, titled, "Sim Podemos! {Yes we can!]: Basic Information on Mental Retardation"; a rough and final draft of an English-language film script, titled, "Sim Podemos!"; a document detailing the objective and membership of the advisory committee to the Portuguese outreach project on mental retardation at Costi-Ilas Immigrant Services; and an advertisement for the film's broadcast on Canadian television stations.

Metro multicultural grants

File consists of an application for a multicultural grant submitted to the Department of Multicultural Relations of Metropolitan Toronto, an interim report, and the response by the Chief Administrative Officer.
