Photographs of Margaret Laurence and others

File consists of photographs taken by Helena Hughes. Depicted in these photographs are Margaret Laurence, Al Purdy, Irving Layton, Dennis Lee, Mavor Moore, Michael Ondaatje, Miriam Waddington, Pierre Berton, John Newlove, Hugh MacLennan, and Farley Mowat at an unidentified event or conference. Also included is an Oct. 1969 photograph of Margaret Laurence taken at her home by Hughes.

Heart of a stranger

File consists of galley proofs for a novel with the working title "The very best of intentions" and a two-page summary of Laurence's biography, a list of awards, and a list of publications.

Correspondence to Helen Warkentin

File consists of eight letters received by Helen Stanley (nee Warkentin) from Margaret Laurence (nee Peggy Wemyss) during the summer of 1945 after they had shared a room in residence at United College in Winnipeg. Also included is a letter from another student, Mary Turnbull, in 1946, a letter from Laurence written in 1967, and 10 photographs depicting Helen Stanley and Margaret Laurence with other Sparling Hall residents at United College.
