The sermons created during the 1870s were written in Baldwinsville and Greenpoint, which were likely communities on Long Island, New York. Each sermon begins with a title and the underlying biblical text, and often include the numbers of the hymns sung during the service.

Hunt’s correspondence with various government officials and travel coordinators documents his enrollment in the Settlement Scheme, and the processes involved in migrating from England to Canada. Hunt’s participation in the scheme is further documented by his accumulation of government publications and legal documents, as well as the journals and receipts that pertained to his farming activities. Photographs and maps depict Hedgerows farm and its location. Newspaper and magazine clippings and other printed ephemera collected by Hunt, while in Saskatchewan and after his return to England, record his continued interest in the fates of his fellow settlers. Although Hunt published an essay recounting his experiences positively, his drafts speak of his ultimate discontent with the Settlement Scheme.

Fonds consists of records created and maintained by Alexander Israel Wittenberg, pertaining to his career as a mathematician, university professor and researcher of mathematical education, mathematical philosophy and general educational policies. The fonds includes Wittenberg’s correspondence with leading scientists, mathematicians and education specialists from across Europe and North America, reflecting his involvement with research pertaining to these issues, as well as to various other initiatives, debates and policy discussions. Other series in the fonds contain records relating to the academic courses that Wittenberg developed and taught and his involvement with the governance of York University during his tenure as a faculty member and which attest to his vision regarding the University’s future pedagogical direction; records from his time as a student in Zurich; most of his scholarly output and public engagements since the late 1940s and until his death in 1965; and some sound recordings containing radio broadcasts made by Wittenberg. The fonds also contains several personal records of both Wittenberg and his close family members, as well as photographs and newspaper clippings.

Upon his death, Wittenberg left behind him several unfinished projects. Amongst these are two manuscripts, the first, titled “Education: the unfulfilled promise,” is based on a series of lectures that he broadcasted on CBC radio during March and April 1965. The second manuscript, “Number – a case study in knowledge,” is based on an interdisciplinary mathematical-philosophical course that Wittenberg delivered to first- and second-year students at York University. Also included in the collection are initial notes and drafts relating to two other projects that Wittenberg was planning: a biography of Albert Einstein whom he perceived as a symbol for the ability to successfully combine scientific excellence with strong and unbending moral values, and a university-level textbook on vector algebra.

The fonds consists of correspondence to Paul Sullivan from family members, including 22 letters from cousin Vernon Sullivan written between 1911-1915 and describing the daily life, concerns, and opinions of a young man first as a farm worker, and then teacher, on the prairies immediately prior to enlisting to fight in World War I at the age of 16. There are also ca. 40 letters from brother Edgar Sullivan written between 1914-1943 describing the life of a homesteader who has moved to Saskatchewan to homestead and operate a business during difficult economic times. The fonds also includes diaries (1915-1971), municipal tax notices (1886-1961), personal correspondence, family wills, deeds and mortgages (from 1848), some business papers, 4 newspapers, a child's book, ca. 15 photographs and 3 business ledgers (1934-1950). The letters are arranged chronologically.

There is material dealing with housing, including by-laws and zoning regulations for North York and provincial legislation dealing with housing; material dealing with transportation policy and planning, including rapid transit, the proposed Spadina Expressway, transportation studies, and related subjects. There is correspondence with constituents and civil servants dealing with local problems, and correspondence from ratepayers and other local organizations. For his book, 'Responsible government in Ontario,' there are files relating to the methodology employed in the book, illustrations, notes, source materials and bibliography, and general publication files. Also included are personal graduate papers, research notes, correspondence, professorial notes and memorandums.

The material in Accession 1972-006 dealing with the North York Council is arranged alphabetically by subject heading (associations, committees, government agencies, transportation). The constituents' correspondence is arranged alphabetically by name while that from associations and organizations is organized separately and then arranged alphabetically.

The vast majority of the fonds consists of newspaper clippings, notes and related material concerning Pyper's journalism, arranged alphabetically by subject. These include notes taken during his own education in England. In addition, there are typed lecture notes for courses he taught at York, as well as typescripts of articles and lectures by Friedman, and a typescript draft of his 'Masaryk's social philosophy and critique of Marxism,'. There are also course reading lists, some student materials (class lists, including some with student grades, student essays, and correspondence) and some correspondence and printed materials relating to York University, including calendars and handbooks. There is some material dating from Friedman's time as a management consultant in London, England, including studies of management styles in British firms. The posters are reproductions of paintings by masters (Picasso, Utrillo, etc.), that appear to have hung in his office.
