Transforming Space into Place projects 2004-2006

File consists of records pertaining to the Transforming Space into Place project, involving the move of the York University Faculty of Environmental Studies and Atkinson College's Nursing and Health Policy and Management Units into a shared building and the design of that new space, Health, Nursing and Environmental Studies (HNES). Included is a report by Barndt entitled "Transforming space into place: the slow process of inhabiting HNES" (May 2006), minutes, agendas and notes from meetings of the Turning Space into Place Task Force (TSIP), architectural drawings, correspondence, e-mail, and proposals.

Translation/interpretation

File consists of a document detailing the principles of bilingual international research for the VIVA! Project, written in English and Spanish, and a paper entitled "Interpretation and translation: power tools for sharing power in grassroots leadership development" by Alice Johnson.

VIVA 2003 : popular communications workshop : Toronto

File pertains to the organization of the Making Art, Creating Change bilingual (Spanish-English) workshop on grassroots video, community radio, participatory mural-making and popular theatre hosted by five community artists from Latin America. Records include notices, a pamphlet, task lists, contact lists, itineraries, budgets, e-mail, correspondence and a proposal.

VIVA 2004 : Harvesting Stories : Oct. 29-30

File pertains to the organization of "Harvesting Stories: popular education in social movements of the Americas: an international gathering", held at the Native Canadian Centre in Toronto on 29-30 Oct. 2004, co-sponsored by the VIVA! project. File includes a programme, lists, a budget, e-mail, correspondence, itineraries, invoices, notes, attendee feedback, notices and participant biographies.

File consists of a draft annotated manuscript for the VIVA book, as well as a table of contents, a letter from Deborah Barndt to New Village Press about the draft and a budget for the book.

VIVA evaluation for SSHRC

File consists of notes of a meeting of Ampliando Dudas, Sonado Futuros in Toronto on 1 May 2003, an agenda for the "South-north dialogue on popular communications/community arts" on 29 Apr. 2003, and completed evaluation forms relating to the VIVA! project from project participants, written in Spanish and English.
