Nanaimo conference

Pipes episode : anti-Semitism, etc.

File consists of notes, e-mail correspondence, and policy documents pertaining to the visit of Daniel Pipes to speak at York University and a complaint made to Axelrod about the use of the Faculty of Education's e-mail list, First Class, by the Coalition for Academic Freedom to promote a protest against Pipes. Also included in the file is a collection of anonymized e-mail correspondence pertaining to Pipes' guest lecture and the co-sponsorship by the York Centre for International and Security Studies (YCISS) of the event.

"What does government want?" (Tupper)

File consists of correspondence, an agenda, and Axelrod's notes for a workshop on universities and public policy, "What does government want from universities? Recent patterns in higher education policy", held on 10 September 2004 at the University Club of Toronto. Axelrod was invited to the workshop by Allan Tupper, a political science professor from the University of British Columbia and its Associate Vice President (Government Relations).

Publication : Ontario College of Teachers

File consists of a letter sent to Axelrod from the Ontario College of Teachers regarding an update to the College's casebook. Included is a table of contents for a publication entitled "Cases for teacher development: preparing for the classroom". Axelrod contributed content to chapter two of this publication, "Is the teacher's gender an issue in a kindergarten classroom?".

File consists of a memorandum entitled "The York University Foundation: the tail that wags the dog (suggestions for further research)" by York University history professor David Noble regarding the composition of the York University Foundation, many of whom were Jewish, and its influence on York University policies. Also included are newspaper articles and press releases detailing the negative reaction to Noble's comments.

Danforth Jewish Circle

Item is a copy of an address given by Axelrod to the Danforth Jewish Circle's Rosh Hashanah service on 5 October 2005, entitled "Pondering the sovereignty of God".

Beyond progressive education

Dean search 2007

File consists of correspondence, notes, a memorandum and job descriptions pertaining to the search to replace Axelrod as Dean of the Faculty of Education in 2007. Due to the absence of an appropriate candidate, Axelrod was asked to stay an extra year, which he did. Alice Pitt was eventually selected to succeed Axelrod in July 2008.
