Fonds consists of records pertaining to the life and work of Canadian-Scottish Jazz musician and Toronto Jazz Festival founder, Jim Galloway. Records include those pertaining to his early life in Scotland, his work as a booking agent and radio host with CKFM, his administrative roles with the Toronto Jazz Festival, and his life as a performing saxophonist. In addition to the administrative contracts, correspondence, notes, travel records, gig and festival memorabilia, sheet music, and other records pertaining to Galloway's career, the fonds includes extensive audio recordings of Galloway's radio show, Toronto Alive, as well as various other recordings created or compiled by Galloway throughout his career.

File consists of obituaries for Galloway in various publications, as well as press clippings related to Galloway's receipt of the Oscar Peterson Award. The award was granted posthumously to Galloway by the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal.

Series consists of records pertaining to Jim Galloway's early life in Scotland, as well as personal records created throughout his life. Records include notes, sketches and other documents from Galloway's early childhood education and tenure at the Glasgow School of Art, personal notes and correspondence, travel records, date books, passports and immigration records, and other material. Series does not contain records pertaining to Galloway's early musical projects in Scotland, which can be found in the Working Life and Photographs series.
