File consists of papers and essays written by students and academics pertaining to a variety of subjects concerning post-secondary education, socialism and student activism, accumulated by Axelrod through his involvement with the student union movement.

Miscellaneous student union pamphlets

File consists of a National Union of Students pamphlet entitled "It's your movement", a booklet prepared by the Council of the York Federation of Students entitled "Post-secondary education in Ontario: Do you know what's happening? Do you care?", and a Glendon College Student Council pamphlet entitled "A university is for people".

Academic planning

File pertains to Axelrod's tenure as Dean of York University's Faculty of Education. These records are a Dean's agenda of concerns for an undergraduate program review (Nov. 2002), the Faculty's five-year plan (Feb. 2003), a York University planning, budget and accountability report (2001-2002), and a review of current procedures in the Faculty of Education, prepared by Grace Kim for the Dean in March 2007.

File consists of student evaluations for a course taught by Axelrod at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in the fall of 2000 (TPS 1801), as well as student evaluations for his York University course, History of Higher Education in Canada (EDUC 5410), held in summer of 2010.

Dean retirement : 2008

File consists of Axelrod's notes and speech for his 10 June 2008 retirement dinner, as well as written remarks about his retirement as Dean of the Faculty of Education by Alice Pitt, and joke lyrics to a song entitled "Hey, Paul" to the tune of "Hey, Paula".

File consists of a memorandum from the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities regarding funding to York University for a graduate diploma in post-secondary education. Also included is an agenda for a meeting of the York University Senate on 14 December 2006, which includes a proposal for the creation of the diploma at York.

Item is a publication entitled "A maturing community: Jewish women and seniors in Canada", the seventh volume of York University's Centre for Jewish Studies Annual, by Michael Brown and Leo Davids.

File consists of a memorandum entitled "The York University Foundation: the tail that wags the dog (suggestions for further research)" by York University history professor David Noble regarding the composition of the York University Foundation, many of whom were Jewish, and its influence on York University policies. Also included are newspaper articles and press releases detailing the negative reaction to Noble's comments.

Item is a report entitled "Professional master degrees in education: a report to the Ontario Association of Deans of Education" written by Allen Pearson and Pamela MacLeod-Roberts.

OISE contract 1994-5

File consists of correspondence, a contract and a memorandum pertaining to Axelrod's appointment as a sessional instructor at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE), teaching a course entitled "The history of higher education in Canada" in the 1995-1996 school year. Also included is a 9 February 2000 letter re-appointing Axelrod as a full member of the Theory and Policy Studies in Education department at OISE.

Pipes episode : anti-Semitism, etc.

File consists of notes, e-mail correspondence, and policy documents pertaining to the visit of Daniel Pipes to speak at York University and a complaint made to Axelrod about the use of the Faculty of Education's e-mail list, First Class, by the Coalition for Academic Freedom to promote a protest against Pipes. Also included in the file is a collection of anonymized e-mail correspondence pertaining to Pipes' guest lecture and the co-sponsorship by the York Centre for International and Security Studies (YCISS) of the event.

Soviet historian view of Canadian history
