Fonds consists of records related to Campbell's work as a director and producer with the CBC and with other broadcasters. As a director, Campbell's responsibilities included those immediate to the production of an episode or program, such as directing performers and crew. As a producer, Campbell was responsible for the overall creative direction of a program, as well as the management of technical, financial and human resources. Records include copies of scripts, production notes and reviews, and files related to productions and office administration. Fonds also contains photographs of Campbell and others on sets and in production, video recordings of shows on which Campbell worked, papers pertaining to "Anne of Green Gables -- the musical," including requests to perform the musical and any modifications to the script, and copies of legal documents related to the use and licensing of Anne of Green Gables.

Photographs

Series consists mainly of photographs depicting Norman Campbell, Elaine Campbell and actors, dancers, crew and other colleagues from productions on which he worked. Many photographs were taken by Campbell. Also included are some textual records that accompanied the photographs, newspaper clippings pertaining to Campbell’s death, an audio recording of an interview with Elaine Campbell, and posters.

Series includes handwritten notes, memos, resource requisition forms, budgets, background research into performers and production subjects, program proposals and schedules. Series also contains official brochures or programs of stage versions of a production, and advertising or promotional clippings printed for film versions. Some files also contain technical drawings for the stage and/ or set(s), photographs of performers or sets, sheet music, scene breakdowns, and crew and performer lists.

File consists of portraits taken by Norman Campbell of Nikolai “Nick” Soloviev, CBC TV designer from Russia, who studied under S. [Sergei] Eisenstein. Nick is holding 2 different signs in the photographs that describe aperture : “CAM f/2.0” and “NICK f/2.0”

File consists of photographs of the show “Leslie Bell Singers”, also known as “CGE Showtime”. Some of the singers featured were Blanche Lund, Gloria Lambert, Joyce Sullivan.

Series consists of files related to administrative aspects of Campbell's work as director-producer and employee of the CBC. Series contains correspondence from viewers about a show, memos, reports, and photographs from auditions and of sets. Series also contains memos and reports between Campbell and CBC administration, as well as resumes and curriculum vitae of performers and production workers.

“Four for the Show” : 1953 (circa)

File contains photographs of the cast and crew of “Four for the Show” ca. 1953, namely Birt Niosi (conductor), Shirley Harmer, George Murray, Billy O’Connor and Libby Morris; also includes a photo of their first show from Dec. 31, 1952 (new year’s eve).

Series consists of materials related to a production in its early or planning stages. Series includes handwritten notes, correspondence, idea files, program proposals, early drafts of production/shooting schedules and background research regarding a subject or location, such as newspaper clippings, magazine articles and brochures.

Publicity for shows

Series contains published materials used to promote a production. These include brochures, newspaper clippings from national and regional newspapers, and advertisements printed in catalogues. Series also contains correspondence pertaining to audience reaction and copies of promotional photographs.

Scripts

Series consists primarily of scripts received and used by Campbell in his role as a director, responsible for filming or recording an episode or a program. In this capacity, Campbell would work directly with cast and crew on aspects specifically related to a particular episode or program, rather on the production as a whole. Scripts may be annotated and different versions /drafts of a given script may exist. Series also contains other documents related to directing a production, including correspondence, meeting agendas, various production related schedules, handwritten notes, completed forms and paperwork, technical drawings/blueprints for sets, and scores for music. Series further contains photographs from a set or auditions, background research into performers or production subjects (such as newspaper clippings and reviews) and copies of Campbell's contracts and work permits.

File consists of photographs on the set of shows produced by Norman Campbell for CBC TV such as Scope (1955), the Casa Loma Show, and Pumpkins and Witches, as well as photographs documenting his time spent in Unionville, Don Mills, Oregon & Vancouver; portraits of Toby Robbins, Frances Hyland, Barry Morse, Priestley, Gould, Wilde, Moliere, Joyce Sullivan, Joan Gilmour, Marg Cleasy, Tom Spaulding, Joan Fairfax, Jeff Massey & his family, Carol Starkman and Anita Borradale.

File consists of photographs of the Talbot estate near Lake Erie, used for the TV production “The Woman Who Came To Stay”. Included is a photograph of Ronald Hambleton, the writer of the show.
