“The Aberhart Summer” : reprints (NeWest Press)

File pertains to the reprinting of Powe’s book “The Aberhart Summer” by NeWest Press in 2000 and the promotion of the reprint. Records include printed e-mail, correspondence, royalty statements, itineraries, an invitation list, an author statement, a memorandum of agreement, a NeWest Press spring 2000 catalogue, and reviews of the original published book.

“Aldershot” : correspondence re: publication

File includes printed e-mail, notes, incoming correspondence and copies of Powe’s outgoing correspondence. Much of the e-mail is exchanged between Powe, his agent Bev Slopen, and NeWest Press manager Ruth Linka.

Included in the file is a document entitled “The working methods of an author: preface prepared by Pierre Berton as an introduction to his papers deposited with McMaster University Archives” (Jan. 1990).

Archives : York University : donation of personal papers

File pertains to Powe’s donation of his personal papers to the Clara Thomas Archives and Special Collections at York University and Powe’s financial support for the Kent Haworth Archival Research Fellowship. Records include correspondence, printed e-mail, an inventory, background information and notes by Powe, and a transfer of ownership agreement. Also included is correspondence pertaining to Powe’s donation of photographs to the Provincial Archives of Alberta.

File consists of a letter, pamphlets and brochures pertaining to Powe’s travels with his wife, Alys, to France and England.

Wedding scrapbook

Item is a scrapbook commemorating the marriage of Powe to Alys Maude Brady on 30 June 1949. Scrapbook includes a wedding invitation, newspaper clippings, letters, greeting cards, telegrams and other ephemera, as well as loose photographs of Powe’s grandchildren, unidentified family members, and a wedding portrait of the couple. Some photographs of Alys have been pasted in the book.
