Summer institute '99 material

File consists of materials pertaining to the Robarts Centre 1999 summer institute, including a presentation outline by David V.J. Bell entitled "Canadian policy and the environment", presentation slides by Terrence Sullivan entitled "Canada's health care system: more market, more state?", and a sustainable development concept paper by David Bell, Paul Halucha and Mark Hopkins.

Toronto public culture '08 : research materials

File consists of journal and newspaper articles, papers, and e-mail correspondence exchanged between Drache, Dragan Klaic and Jessica Kelly, the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies researcher. These records pertain to research about the role of public space in the production of culture in Toronto, including a copy of Drache's own paper entitled "Canada's resource curse: social v. market Canada".

Transcending the past

File consists of two draft proposals by Drache, for a major analysis of the national question from an English Canadian, Marxist perspective, addressed to Wallace Clement, Mel Watkins and R.T. Naylor. Also included is a letter and thesis proposal sent to Drache from Ted Schrecker.

Universidad de Chile conference : preliminary programme materials

File pertains to the organization of a conference by the Instituto de Ciencia Politicia at the Universidad de Chile y del Area de Estudios Norteamericanos, the Naciones Unidas Instituo Latino Americano y del Caribe de Planificacion Economia y Social, and the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies. The conference, "The new architecture of the state: public goods in an era of globalization: a comparative examination of the public domain in Canada and Chile", was organized by Drache and M. Eugenia Morales and held in Santiago, Chile, in April 1999. Records in this file are correspondence, a preliminary budget, a participant list and a draft programme.

USIS : House of Representatives : competitive trade bill

File consists of a letter from the United States Information Service regarding Drache's request for a copy of the US Comprehensive Trade Policy Reform Act of 1986, and a selection of transcribed articles and commentaries on the bill sent to Drache in lieu of a copy of the bill.

Saunders of Garamond Press pertaining to plans for a collection of essays by Mel Watkins, as well as a letter from Drache to Wolfe about the project. Included in the file are draft tables of contents and copies of Watkins' essays for possible inclusion in the collection.
