Seventh annual Mariposa Folk Festival Innis Lake Ontario

Item consists of the 34 page Mariposa Folk Festival program for 1967, held near Innis Lake, Ontario from 11-13 August, 1967. The program was edited by Raymond Gallinger, and featured a cover design by Gary Preet. Program includes an illustrated schedule of concerts and workshops, as well as a listing of performer biographies. Also features three articles, including "Richard Waterman's Short History of the Blues", The Revolving Trends of Popular Music" by Leigh Cline, an anonymous short article about the University Settlement International Folk Dancer, "Traditional Folk Songs, Dances, and Tales of England - Scotland - Ireland" by Roger Deveer Renwick, "A Canadian Sampler" by Edith Fowke and a farewell letter from Ruth M. Jones, founder of Mariposa.

Rose, Michael

File consists of general correspondence related to author Michael Rose as a client of CSWS Ltd. Also includes a CD-ROM containing the manuscript "The Burma Effect" and a floppy disk containing the manuscript, "The Mazovia Legacy".

Regent Park : Faculty of Education

File consists of correspondence and notes pertaining to York University's Faculty of Education teacher education site in Regent Park in Toronto and the effect of community redevelopment projects on York's program in 2008. Included is a video recording of Axelrod speaking at the 2002 opening of the Faculty's teacher education site in Regent Park.

Rat Patrol

File consists of correspondence and a script for a docudrama series, along with a DVD produced by the Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit, "Can You Picture Yourself As A Public Health Inspector."

File contains posters pertaining to Mi'kmaq history month, North York, and notable Black Canadians and Americans including Kenney Robinson, Bromley Armstrong, Yvonne Atwell, Lynn Jones, Chief Devon Clunis, Nelson Mandela, Bob Marley, MalcomX, Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King Jr., Oscar Peterson, Rita Cox, Eva Smith, Harry Ralph Gairey, John Brooks, and Kobe Bryant. File also consists of a "Nelson Mandela : the face of freedom" calendar (1996) the flag of liberation" and a "Four Seasons Festival Productions and Black Cultural Arts Project Ontario presents Viadorsha" publication (2012) which includes a CD and pertains to the history of the BCAPO.

Photo exhibit request

File consists of a request to write captions for a Parsee photo exhibit in Bangalore, including digital copies of the images by Mahendra Sinh.

File consists of correspondence, handwritten notes, three drafts, and the final text for a presentation entitled, "Words and music : an evening with Rohinton Mistry," held at Harbourfront on 18 October 2012. The file also includes audio recordings of Mistry's interview with Eleanor Wachtel as part of CBC Radio's Writers & Co.

Official Opening Mariposa Folk Festival (For Broadcast)

Radio station recording of the opening ceremonies of the Mariposa Folk Festival, August 17, 1961, featuring an introduction by Orillia's mayor and performances on bagpipes. (ASCA00089)

Recording of final concert performance of 1961 festival by The Travellers, including the songs "This Land", "Black Flies", Jacques Labreque's "The Road to Ol' Grandmere", two unknown Spanish songs, and unknown song in English, "Old Swansea Town Once More", "The Squid-Jiggin' Ground", "The Frozen Logger", "Zemerl?" (an Israeli harvest song), "Sita Ram?", the Puerto Rican song "Que Bonita Bandera", a medley of South African folk songs and closing the concert (and the 1961 festival) with "The Quilting Bee". There are occassional pauses in the recording and several songs are cut-off or faded out prematurely. (ASCA00090)
