3rd Annual Mariposa Folk Festival

Item consists of the 24 page Mariposa Folk Festival program for 1963, held in Orillia, Ontario from 9-11 August 1963. The program was designed and edited by Ed Cowan with possible assistance from festival designer Larry Schafer. Program includes a listing of evening and day concerts and discussion panels, as well as a listing of performer biographies.

Sixth annual Mariposa Folk Festival

Item consists of the 29 page Mariposa Folk Festival program for 1966, held at Innis Lake, Ontario from 5-7 August, 1966. The program was edited by Anne Hershoran, assisted by programme advisor, Randy Ferris, with illustrations provided by Showcards Unlimited. Program includes a schedule of concerts and workshops, as well as a listing of performer biographies. Also features four articles, including "Ontario Folk" by Edith Fowke, "Gospel Music" by Dick Flohill, "Chicago Blues" By John Norris, "Old Time Music" by Leigh Cline. Also features photographs from 1965 festival by Bill Smith.

Item consists of the 34 page Mariposa Folk Festival program for 1967, held near Innis Lake, Ontario from 11-13 August, 1967. The program was edited by Raymond Gallinger, and featured a cover design by Gary Preet. Program includes an illustrated schedule of concerts and workshops, as well as a listing of performer biographies. Also features three articles, including "Richard Waterman's Short History of the Blues", The Revolving Trends of Popular Music" by Leigh Cline, an anonymous short article about the University Settlement International Folk Dancer, "Traditional Folk Songs, Dances, and Tales of England - Scotland - Ireland" by Roger Deveer Renwick, "A Canadian Sampler" by Edith Fowke and a farewell letter from Ruth M. Jones, founder of Mariposa.

Consists of five tracks by James Tenney of samples for his work "Fabric". Audio recordings : #6-Walt and Willie Chandler in Thatcher, Arizona

Consists of voice recordings made by James Tenney during a road trip, while visiting Walt and Millie Chandler. In it Walt talks about his early childhood in Texas, New Mexico, 'Old Mexico', the history of the extended Chandler families, related to freighting, railroad contracting, lumber mills, and other industrial projects in Texas in the early 1900s, Mormonism, Morman colonies in Texas and Mexico. Millie Chandler joins the conversation at about 00:15:00. The couple describe how they met and their marriage together. Walt also discusses the First World War (he served in the navy) and his travels in the North Sea and Scotland.

Audio recordings : First day from New Paltz, New York to Winchester, Virginia (last half private)

Recording consists of James Tenney as he sets out for a cross-country road trip. He travels from New Paltz to Winchester, Virginia, discussing variou topics (anticipation, delayed satisfaction, the purpose of life, astrology, music and other topics. Later he records thoughts a a motel, including the purpose of art, he records some music he has been thinking of and finally he discusses his past relationships with women. Annotations on case include: #1 - July 8, New Paltz to Winchester Va.
