Series consists of material that documents Tenney's ongoing academic and professional interest in the field of music including material that documents his years as a professor of music at York University. It includes research material consisting of clippings, notes, drafts of articles and other material related to the the work of fellow composers such as John Cage, Edgard Varese, Harry Partch as well as Conlon Noncarrow. It also contains material that documents his interest in musical theory including drafts of articles written by Tenney as well as material related to his books "META-HODOS : a phenomenology of 20th century musical materials and an approach to the study of form" and "A history of 'consonance' and 'dissonance.'"

The “Bridging the Solitudes” project ([2001?]-2005) examined the racial, ethnic, cultural and financial barriers faced in post-secondary education by students from traditionally marginalized groups. Thirty students participated at York University and Seneca College during the project and regularly met during the ‘common hour’ to discuss their ongoing experiences, expectations, and aspirations for university and life.

The “Racism, Violence and Health Project” (2002-2007) was a $1.25 million study funded by the Canadian Institute for Health Research. Over 900 individuals participated in the study through surveys, in-depth interviews, two-year micro-ethnographies, annual community forums, and smaller community meetings. The goal of the project was to determine perceptions of both global and racism-related stress in the Indigenous African Nova Scotian community, the Caribbean Canadian community in Toronto, and the African immigrant community in Alberta; and to document the first voice accounts of Black men, their families, and communities about their experiences of violence (including the violence of racism). The research team comprised of Dr. Wanda Thomas Bernand (leader), Dr. Dave Este, Dr. Carl James, Dr. Akua Benjamin, Dr. Carol Amaratunga, Dr. Fred Wien, research trainees, and collaborators (including the Health Association of African Canadians, Nova Scotia Association of Black Social Workers, Victoria Road United Baptist Church, Women's Health in Women's Hands, Tropicana Community Services, Calgary African Community Association, Calgary Immigrant Aid Society, Edmonton Immigrant Association, Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, and Calgary African Caribbean Advisory Council).

Series consists of records collected by Simpson under the heading "building relations between Africa and Canada." The records span the 1960s to the 1980s and include financial records and shipment receipts of the Hamilton Goodwill Africa Foundation; documentation of the formation, meetings and projects of The Sibley Foundation; reports, correspondence, memoranda and "trip envelopes" of the Canada Africa Business Advisory Group (CABAG); records related to Simpson's consulting company, Kanchar International Ltd.; records of his consultancy with the African Medical and Research Foundation (AMREF); correspondence from Canibex, a short-lived brokering subsidiary of Kanchar; and correspondence, memoranda, scripts, budgets and other records of Eden International Productions Inc., a film production company of which Simpson was a co-founder. There are a few files on Canadian Crossroads International and the African Students Foundation (ASF). As well, there is general material on Canada-Kenya activities, in particular the Canada-Kenya Forum for businessmen organized by Kanchar and CABAG. Other record sub-groups created by Simpson include "educating Canadians about African and international development," and "internationalizing the curriculum." The latter subset of records includes approximately 75 catalogue cards summarizing the films held by the Cross-cultural learning centre at the University of Western Ontario. "Trip envelopes" were packages that often included a mixture of records for projects of Kanchar, CABAG and Simpson's other consulting firm, Salasan. They contain letters, notes, and a set of photographs of pre-fabricated housing under construction in Kenya. Other types of records in the series include correspondence, memoranda, reports, clippings, articles, newsletters, studies, resumes, promotional and profile material on Kanchar, speeches, legal documents, meeting notes, surveys, financial statements, conference materials, seminars, and an oral history transcript of an interview with Simpson at UWO as an example of a model international business/cultural leader.

Series consists of records relating to Don Simpson's involvement in various projects relating to Aboriginal people in Canada. Series contains general resource material, such as reports, articles, and brochures/information from various organizations. Series also consists of records relating to CBC Project North, a Native broadcasting system for the North, including notes, drafts, reports, correspondence, brochures, information sheets and other records. Series also consists of various records relating to land claims in the 1970s, most particularly Simpson's involvement with the Indian Brotherhood of the Northwest Territories, the Southern Support Group, and the Dene Nation's opposition to the construction of the Mackenzie Valley Pipeline. Simpson served for 4 years as co-chairman (with Peter Russell) of the Southern Support Group of the Dene Nation and delivered a presentation to Mr. Justice Thomas R. Berger, Commissioner of the Mackenzie Valley Pipelines Inquiry in Yellowknife in April 1976. Records relating to land claim issues include copies of treaties and agreements, news clippings and media coverage, reports, correspondence, speeches, government publications, posters and buttons. Series also includes records relating to the activities of the Northwest Territories Education Task Force, a major research project in the 1980s, for which Simpson served as Director of Research. Records include reports, notes from meetings and community hearings, and other records.

Series consists of promotional materials for Caribana events throughout the years, Carnival events in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as other events Shah hosted or attended in both Canada and the Caribbean. Files include flyers, newspapers and magazines catered for the West Indian community in Canada and the Caribbean.

These include detailed legal case files and correspondence transferred from law firms who represented Prof. Lorch in various court cases in the 1950s regarding charges laid by the House Committee on Un-American Activities and his dismissal from Penn State and Fisk University. Also includes material regarding Grace Lorch's case against the Boston School Board in 1944-1945 and her activities during the Little Rock Crisis of 1957.

Series includes handwritten notes, correspondence, idea files, program proposals, early drafts of production/shooting schedules and background research regarding a subject or location, such as newspaper clippings, magazine articles and brochures.

The majority of speaking engagements appear to have been organized privately, but some were organized by the CBC, such as those for chapters of the Canadian Club. This series documents Augustine's personal and family life in Grenada and Canada from the 1940s through to 2005, including her emigration to Canada, her social activities as a young woman in Toronto, her life as a young mother, social activist, teacher and student.

Photographs also document her early involvement in the 1970s and 1980s in community movements, cultural events, social justice and political organizations, as well as her professional career as an elementary school teacher and principal in the Metropolitan Separate School Board, her activities as part of Premier David Peterson's 'transition team' in 1985 and her work as chair of the Metro Toronto Housing Authority. Events documented include the election campaign of American politician Jesse Jackson, the earliest celebrations of the Caribana parade in Toronto, women's rights events and protests, and local Black History Month celebrations.

Photographs also document Augustine's activities as a federal politician, including her activities on Parliament Hill, her administration of federal committees and the Secretariats of Multiculturalism (later Multiculturalism and Status of Women), as well as her election campaigns (including door-to-door campaigning; fund raising; speeches; debates and promotion), and local activities (including celebrations at her constituency office; round table discussions and meetings with community organizations; annual Christmas parties; summer picnics; community celebrations; banquets; and Remembrance Day ceremonies).

Photographs also document Augustine's extensive travel overseas in the Caribbean, the United States, South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Asia, Central Asia and the Far East, both in her official capacity as a politician and cabinet member, and as a tourist and traveler.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke as producer for a Fifth Estate program titled "You be the judge" (2006) about Wayne Carlson, a convicted bank robber and thief, his rehabilitation and re-arrest, and his appearance before the National Parole Board. These records, which include correspondence, scripts, interview transcripts, production materials, and video cassettes, pertain to Burke's research and interview work for this project and the production of the program.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke pertaining to her work for Alliance Entertainment Limited and Norstar Entertainment in the late 1980s and early 1990s. These records concern Burke's work for Alliance Entertainment as a script reader and analyst and as a director of public relations and corporate communications, as well as her work as a director of marketing for Norstar Entertainment. The records in this series consist of promotional materials relating to Burke's work on Alliance Entertainment production "Mount Royal" (1988), as well as other press releases, script synopses and analyses, newspaper articles, and photographs. Also included in this series are marketing and promotional materials pertaining to an issue of Canadian literary journal "Blood & aphorisms".

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke in her capacity as a producer for a 2009 CBC Fifth Estate documentary titled "Someone got away with murder," about Andy Rose, a Canadian man convicted of the 1983 murder of German tourists Bernd Goericke and Andrea Scherp. These records document both Burke's research, interview and production work for the documentary as well as the details of Rose's two murder trials and his involvement in a "Mr. Big" police sting operation. The records in this series include correspondence, memoranda, transcripts, court documents, newspaper articles, scripts, travel itineraries, journal articles, notes, photographs, audio and video cassettes, identity cards, a poster, a CD-R, and DVD-Rs.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke in her role as a producer for the CBC's The Fifth Estate. These records pertain specifically to a 2007 program titled "The lady vanishes," which examines the relationship and separation of Nova Scotia couple Helena and Sandy Munroe, and document Burke's research work, interviews conducted, and travel plans made for the production of this program. Also included are viewer complaint letters sent to the CBC after the program aired. Records in this series include interview transcripts, newspaper articles, production materials, scripts, correspondence, copies of legal documents, travel itineraries, police records and audiovisual materials.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke in her role as a producer for the CBC television program The Fifth Estate. These records pertain to a documentary project that followed prison inmates through their National Parole Board hearings. The records in this series document Burke's research work, the process of selecting subjects for the program, and preparations for filming. These records concern the organization of interviews and shooting schedules with members of Brendan Burke's family and the other athlete subjects of the documentary, as well as background research on gay male and female athletes in different sports. The records in this series include correspondence, interview transcripts, newspaper and journal articles, production materials, audiovisual materials, and draft scripts.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Marilou McPhedran, pertaining to the operations and functions of the Gerstein Centre, a City of Toronto resource centre for individuals with mental health problems for which McPhedran served as a founding director and board member. The records in this series document a variety of administrative issues, including the formation of the centre, meetings of its board of directors, and the 1990 re-opening of the centre at 100 Charles St. E. The files in this series consist of correspondence, draft documents, minutes, memoranda, budgets, bylaws, reports, newspaper and magazine clippings, and notebooks.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by McPhedran during and after her term as Corporate Director of the City of Toronto's Healthy City office, from 1991 to 1994. The records in this series pertain to some of the operations and activities of Healthy City, an initiative begun by the City of Toronto in 1989 with a focus on social equity, urban ecological management and the internal activities of the Corporation of the City of Toronto. McPhedran's role as Corporate Director included community development and organizational development through outreach and advocacy, research and policy analysis. These records document in particular McPhedran's work on the 1991 State of the City Report, related conferences, committee work, and research relating to the Healthy City mandate. Some records in this series were created and used after her term as Corporate Director ended, as she remained involved with Healthy City initiatives and the Healthy Communities movement throughout the 1990s. Included in this series are files consisting of notes, correspondence, minutes, memoranda, pamphlets, newsletters, reports, newspaper and magazine clippings, notices, flyers, journal articles, and conference materials.

Series consists of records created by Marilou McPhedran during her completion of a part-time LL.M degree in Comparative Constitutional Law through the Professional Development Program at Osgoode Hall Law School, which she began in 2002 and completed in 2004. The records in this series document McPhedran's participation in and written work for a number of courses, including: Aboriginal Peoples and the Canadian Constitution (GS LAW 6727); Constitutional Law and the Charter (GS LAW 6640); Federalism and Institutions of Government (GS LAW 6721); and Freedom of Expression and the Press (GS LAW 6722). Also documented in this series is a trip taken by McPhedran to South Africa to attend a conference on constitutional law. Records in this series include correspondence, conference materials, papers, notes, course outlines, essays, drafts, presentation notes, pamphlets and brochures, and newspaper articles.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Marilou McPhedran through her association with the Women's Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF), a national organization promoting legal equality for women in Canada, founded in 1985. The records in this series date from the early 1980s to the mid-2000s and pertain to McPhedran's work as a LEAF co-founder, as a member and chair of the board of directors of the LEAF Foundation, and as a member and chair of the LEAF board of directors. These records are predominantly LEAF administrative files, files relating to various fundraising efforts of the LEAF Foundation, and resource materials for LEAF-related legal cases. Files include notes, correspondence, notebooks, memoranda, draft documents, agendas, minutes, financial statements, grant applications, magazine articles, newsletters, news releases, newspaper clippings, pamphlets, and photographs. Many of the files in this series were created and accumulated by former LEAF president Susan Tanner.

Series consists of records pertaining to Marilou McPhedran's speaking engagements and speeches given by McPhedran at conferences and other events in Canada between 1984 and 2005. These records reflect the scope of McPhedran's areas of interest and knowledge, including topics involving constitutional issues, women's health and legal rights, and sexual abuse and harassment. Files in this series include correspondence, transcripts of speeches, pamphlets, conference materials, newspaper clippings and magazine articles, notes, memoranda, brochures, a photograph, an audio cassette and a video recording.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke, a producer for the CBC investigative show “The fifth estate,” and the episode, “The last great escape,” that aired on November 29, 2013. The show documents the escape of two North Koreans fleeing to other countries as refugees and the escape routes used. Original illustrations and graphics were used as part of the storytelling in this documentary. Files consist of research material, production records, correspondence, audio cassette interviews and interview transcripts, draft scripts, administrative records including travel and video shoot records, newspaper clippings and journal articles, book reviews, the book “Escape from camp 14: one man’s remarkable odyssey from North Korea to freedom in the west,” and documentaries on North Korea work camps, politicians and general life in the country, and North Korean defectors. 

Series consists of records created and collected by Theresa Burke in her capacity as a researcher for filmmaker John Kastner and his docuseries “Rage against the darkness,” an investigation into families with elderly members using or thinking of moving to nursing homes. The files consist of research material for both elderly inmates and nursing home residents, contact lists, correspondence with prison inmates, and the project outline and proposal.

Accession consists of digitized home movies from an Indian family in Canada documenting family members visiting Canada. Project and donor contributed description follows: "Sometime between 1987 and 1988, it's the summer season and the Jabbar family welcomes uncles and aunts over for a visit to Canada, staying at their apartment in Scarborough, ON. Family was always welcome at the Jabbar household and they are happy and willing to stay for weeks at a time despite the small space. The footage shows how multigenerational the gatherings are, which included S's grandmother who recently came to live with the family."

Series consists of Toyomasa Fusé’s unpublished manuscripts for a book on Indian nationalist leader Subhas Chandra Bose and the Greater East Asia Conference of 1943, his autobiography “Going My Way,” and “Marginal Man’s Perspective,” Fusé’s semi-autobiographical examination of his worldview and identity, which he believed was shaped by his existence as a ‘bicultural’ individual living between two different cultures.

Series consists of records pertaining to Gentles’ research and publishing in the field of English history. Includes files pertaining to: the publishing of various articles and book reviews, as well as his monograph, The New Model Army in England, Ireland and Scotland, 1645-1653 (Blackwell, 1992); the Toronto Research Group in Early Modern British History; and various research trips dating from the late 1970s to the 1990s. Series also includes records related to the publishing of a Festschrift in honour of British historian Austin Woolrych, with whom Gentles had a longstanding relationship. The volume, Soldiers, Writers and Statesmen in the English Revolution (Cambridge University Press, 1998), was co-edited by Gentles. Series also includes several files of correspondence related to Gentles’ history research activities, as well as one file of personal correspondence.

Series consists of materials created and accumulated by Hutchman pertaining to a variety of subjects, particularly his involvement with literary events, talks given at high schools, conferences and professional organizations, including the League of Canadian Poets, the Writers’ Union of Canada, the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick, and the New Brunswick Arts Council.

Series consists of correspondence between Pocock and her family including correspondence exchanged between Pocock and her husband Jack while he was serving in the Second World War. Shapiro" (editor), as well as his various articles, reviews, conference papers, and commentaries. Records in this series are research materials, correspondence, draft manuscripts, audio recordings, photographs, interview transcripts, book proofs, reader reports, publishing contracts, speaking notes and promotional materials.

Series consists of correspondence and clippings concerning various theatres and theatre companies in Canada and in other countries (Abbey Theatre-Dublin, Royal Shakespeare Company), and with playwrights and authors (Samuel Beckett, Brendan Behan, Anthony Burgess, Ezra Pound). There is also correspondence. official records and some clippings relating to the James Joyce Society of Canada (including accounts, lists and financial material), and with organizers of James Joyce Symposia (York University, Trieste, Dublin, Paris). There is material relating to productions of Pollock's works ('Giacomo de Trieste', 'Night boat from Dublin', 'Ulysses in Nighttown'). There is also some correspondence and related material concerning Temple Sinai (Toronto) and Pollack's travels (Soviet Union, Italy, Japan, Cuba). In addition, there are theatre programs from several theatres in Canada (Hart House Theatre, O'Keefe Centre, Royal Alexandra Theatre, Stratford).

Series consists of handwritten drafts, typescripts, editorial comments and correspondence, photocopies, promotional material and research notes, for several of Pollock's works including 'After the funeral,''Gabriel,' 'Yes, I will yes', 'Up from the pedestal' and unpublished works including his Soviet journal.

Series contains audio tape reels of interviews Pollock conducted with members of Joyce's family and associates, interviews with members of the Abbey Theatre and with Irish critics and writers, recordings of the proceedings of the James Joyce Symposium at York University (1970), and copies of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation programmes concerning James Joyce ('Tuesday Night', a Joyce Documentary, and others). There are recordings used in Pollock's productions including 'Giacomo de Trieste,' 'Ulysses in Nighttown,'(music, sound effects, etc).

Series contains fifteen watercolours from the play 'Night boat to Dublin,' collectively titled 'Cat and devil' by Jane Golden; posters advertising Joyce symposia at York University, Dublin, Trieste and other sites, and related Joycean celebrations; and posters advertising Pollock's productions. In addition, there are four scrapbooks of press clippings on the theatre that include notices of Pollock's productions, as well as other material.
