Irwin Hoffman claims

File consists of records relating to the development of the Irving Hoffman claims at Pelletier Lake, Quebec, which were purchased by the Canadian Mines Development Syndicate in November 1928. Records include: a memo which details a payment plan between Canadian Mines Development Syndicate and the Eastham Co. in 1929; a report of work sent to the Department of Colonization, Mines and Fisheries in Quebec which details the prospecting of the claim in May 1924; correspondence relating to the claim and its stock; and eight newspaper clippings.

File consists of: clippings about copper mining in the Belgian Congo and Rhodesia, 1929; a memo regarding manganese deposits in South Africa, 1929; a map of the main roads crossing Africa, undated; and a report on the 'Vlakpontein nickel deposits' in the Transvaal, South Africa, written by Robert Hoffman in 1930. The report includes a history of the region, the location of the nickel deposits and a geological study.

Publications

File consists of an essay by Hunt detailing his experiences settling in Saskatchewan, published in both a newspaper and a government publication. The essay placed fourth in the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix’s 3,000 Family Competition, which was held by several newspapers across Canada. Hunt’s work was later republished in a collection of these stories by the Department of Immigration and Colonization, Winning through : Stories of life on Canadian farms told by British settlers.

Correspondence and subject files

Series consists of correspondence, minutes of meetings, press releases, broadsheets, newsletters, publications, manuscript notes, drafts of speeches delivered by Pocock as well as notes and drafts of other writings, memoranda and other material which documents Pocock's involvement with the peace movement, her activities as a refugee worker and, to a lesser extent, her career as a jewellery maker. Series contains files of material which document Pocock's activities with the American Friends Service Committee, the Canadian Council of Churches, the Canadian Friends Service Committee, the Inter-Church Committee for Refugees, the Peace Brigade, Project Ploughshares and Voice of Women.

File consists of a copy of the St. Walburg Enterprise, a copy of Atlas of Canada, clippings from other newspapers and magazines, a pamphlet on British Family Settlement in New Brunswick, road maps of Saskatchewan and Canada, and other ephemera. The articles and publications document the experiences of settlers across Canada, including the challenges faced by farmers during nine years of drought.
