Seventh annual Mariposa Folk Festival Innis Lake Ontario

Item consists of the 34 page Mariposa Folk Festival program for 1967, held near Innis Lake, Ontario from 11-13 August, 1967. The program was edited by Raymond Gallinger, and featured a cover design by Gary Preet. Program includes an illustrated schedule of concerts and workshops, as well as a listing of performer biographies. Also features three articles, including "Richard Waterman's Short History of the Blues", The Revolving Trends of Popular Music" by Leigh Cline, an anonymous short article about the University Settlement International Folk Dancer, "Traditional Folk Songs, Dances, and Tales of England - Scotland - Ireland" by Roger Deveer Renwick, "A Canadian Sampler" by Edith Fowke and a farewell letter from Ruth M. Jones, founder of Mariposa.

Item consists of the 52 page Mariposa Folk Festival program for 1973, held on the Toronto Islands, Toronto, Ontario from 6-8 July 1973. The program was designed and edited by Richard Flohil and Marna Snitman. Program includes an illustrated schedule of evening and day concerts and workshops, a listing of performer biographies, as well as an auditor's report for the festival foundation. Also includes articles, including, "Performers from Toronto ethnic groups play a special part in Mariposa" by Flo Hayes and "Crafts and craftsmen at the Festival" by Sykes Morrison.

Item consists of the 52 page Mariposa Folk Festival program for 1978, held on the Toronto Islands, Toronto, Ontario, from 23-25 June, 1978. The program was edited by Sharon Johnston and David Ferguson, designed by Marilyn Koop and advertisements were managed by Trish Short. Program includes a map of the site, a schedule of evening and day concerts and workshops and a list of performer biographies. Also contains several articles, including: "Introducing this year's festival" by artistic director, Ken Whiteley, "Alan Mills" by Bram Morrison, a memorial to Malvina Reynolds, "An Old Immigrant Remembers" by Margaret Bennett Knight, "Mariposa in the Schools" by Carol Kehm (MITS Coordinator), "The Children's Area" by Sharon Hampson, Lois Lilienstein and Caroline Parry, "The Native Peoples" by Bettle Liota and a financial statement from the festival foundation.

Audio recordings : #6-Walt and Willie Chandler in Thatcher, Arizona

Consists of voice recordings made by James Tenney during a road trip, while visiting Walt and Millie Chandler. In it Walt talks about his early childhood in Texas, New Mexico, 'Old Mexico', the history of the extended Chandler families, related to freighting, railroad contracting, lumber mills, and other industrial projects in Texas in the early 1900s, Mormonism, Morman colonies in Texas and Mexico. Millie Chandler joins the conversation at about 00:15:00. The couple describe how they met and their marriage together. Walt also discusses the First World War (he served in the navy) and his travels in the North Sea and Scotland.

File also consists of a "Nelson Mandela : the face of freedom" calendar (1996) the flag of liberation" and a "Four Seasons Festival Productions and Black Cultural Arts Project Ontario presents Viadorsha" publication (2012) which includes a CD and pertains to the history of the BCAPO.

File includes a 1987 postcard sent by Greg Curnoe to Randolph. The compact disc in this file contains images from a 2005 presentation given by Randolph at OPTICA 2005, "Elegy for an educated bum".

McLuhan re: Permissions

File consists of correspondence with the Variable Speech Control Company requesting permission to reproduce a Eva-tone soundsheet of McLuhan's voice which first appeared in 1974 to be included as an insert in Folio magazine. Also included is a transcript of a conversation between Marshall McLuhan, Eric McLuhan and Ken Sherman about Variable Speech Control from 1974.
