File consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke as a researcher for director John Kastner's 2010 documentary, "Life with Murder". The records in this series document Burke's research about Mason Jenkins, convicted of the 1998 murder of his sister in Chatham, Ontario. These records include copies of Jenkins' prison files and outgoing correspondence, police transcripts, newspaper articles, journal articles, audio cassettes, police interrogation videos, a contact list and a book.

Series consists of files created and accumulated by Marilou McPhedran pertaining to an Ontario Human Rights complaint filed against Osgoode Hall Law School and York University Dean Harry Arthurs and the resulting formation of the Institute for Feminist Legal Research at York University. McPhedran was one of more than 100 lawyers, law students and legal academics who were signatories of this complaint, which charged systemic discrimination against women after Osgoode Hall Law School did not promote Professor Mary Jane Mossman to the position of dean. The records in this series document the process of settling the dispute, the meetings and activities of the complainants' steering committee, and the details of the settlement made between the complainants and York University. These records include memoranda, newsletters, notes, correspondence, minutes of settlement, memoranda of agreement, agendas, reports, draft documents, invoices, and notices.

This series consists of correspondence, contracts, notes, drafts, clippings, offprints, photographs, and ephemera created and accumulated by CSWS Ltd. as agents of Marshall McLuhan and his estate. CSWS Ltd. began representing Marshall McLuhan around 1970.

Files from accessions 2010-040 and 2012-066 include: public appearance requests; requests for permission to cite and republish the work of McLuhan; research material and drafts for the book, “Letters of Marshall McLuhan” (Toronto: Oxford University Press, 1987); correspondence and reports related to the preparation, negotiations and acquisition of the McLuhan Papers by the Public Archives of Canada in 1984; correspondence with communication scholars and co-authors of works with Marshall McLuhan, including Bruce R. Powers, Barrington Nevitt, and W. The series includes notes, drafts and resource material related to Norquay's M.A. Thesis, "A Study of a Community Recreation Council as an Agent of Social Change" as well as the completed thesis, original correspondence, photographs and clippings created and/or accumulated while Norquay was recreation director of the Dunville Recreational Council. Series also includes minutes of that council. Norquay's thesis was successfully submitted to the University of Toronto in partial fulfillment of her Master's degree but at the direction of her thesis supervisor was not deposited in the University of Toronto library on the grounds that it would be considered libelous.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke during the production of a CBC "Fifth estate" documentary about Ludmila Ilina, "A question of innocence" (Apr. 2011), which addresses Ilina's conviction for the 1995 murder of her husband and her claim of innocence. These records document Burke's research concerning the legal case against Ilina, the involvement of York University's Innocence Project in her case, interviews with subjects in the documentary, issues involving Ilina's day parole, and Ilina's communications with Burke during the project. The records in this series include court transcripts and legal documents, interview transcripts, correspondence, newspaper articles, photographs, notes and audio cassettes.

The series consists of clippings, correspondence, minutes and other material regarding Wiseman's participation in the artist's group Loons. Formed in November 1982, Loons was an initial group of nineteen poets, novelists, composers, painters and sculptors who met informally for a period of about three years to discuss how their respective arts could act as an influence on each other. Series consists of records created and accumulated by Silverman primarily between 1969 and 1970, when she conducted field research in Bush Lot, Guyana, for her PhD thesis entitled “Resource change and village factionalism in an East Indian community, Guyana”. The results of this research were also published in her book, Rich people and rice: factional politics in rural Guyana, 1900-1970. This ethnographic and historical research examined local-level politics and the effect of economic resources on politics in Bush Lot, an East Indian rice-farming community on the coast of Guyana. These records document Silverman’s approach to research, which included casual conversation, participant observation, attendance at political events, formal interviews, primary source research and household surveys, and her process of aggregating the resulting data, as well as providing a comprehensive history of the village of Bush Lot and its inhabitants in the early- to mid-20th century. The records in this series are notes, copies of village council minutes and letter books, court documents, surveys and household questionnaires, government reports, census records, audio recordings, interview transcripts and notes, card indices and computer printouts, research reports, maps of Bush Lot and greater Guyana, correspondence, and a copy of Silverman’s PhD dissertation.

Series consists of film elements, b-roll, and full unedited interviews related to the documentary film production "Listen to the Land: The Naskapi Nation Invests in Mining." Arrangement based on the chronological sequence of the film's shooting schedule which took place between 2016 and 2017. Interviews with members of Naskapi Nation of Kawawachikamach (NNK) are separated out. For this film shoot, the film crew included Director of Photography, Shane Belcourt, sound engineer Tony Wallace, and two graduate research assistants, Alesha Moffatt and Melissa Blimkie. Once the production was complete and the documentary produced, Celia Haig-Brown worked with editors Jordan O’Connor and John Hryszkiewicz to prepare the raw footage of interviews and and b-roll material to be archived. Johnny Chase, Secret Agent of Space was a space opera radio serial that was broadcast for two seasons on CBC Radio between 1978 to 1981. The show was set 700 years in the future, and was created by Royal Canadian Air Farce comedian Don Ferguson along with Henry Sobotka. Records include scripts, broadcast recordings, budget documentation, and promotion and ratings information.

This series contains John D. Harbron's reseach and resources, including notes, reports, essays, various publications and newspaper clippings, covering topics related to Cuba and Latin America. Harbron's files concentrate on various aspects and the affairs relating to pre-revolutionary Cuba, revolutionary Cuba, and post-revolutionary Cuba, and Latin America. There are several files with research on Canada-Cuba and Canada-Latin America relations. The files in this series also contain correspondence, photographs, items from a trade development mission to Cuba, and information on Cuban exiles and armed forces, and Latin America's military forces.

The series also includes articles written for Christian Science Monitor, the New York Times, and various other American newspapers. As well, the series includes several tear sheets of articles by Harbron from Spanish publications. The articles in this series cover a wide range of topics in Canadian business and politics, as well as international affairs, with articles about Europe, USA, Cuba and Latin America.

Series consists of home movies from a Japanese and Indian family in Ottawa documenting children playing in the backyard and singing songs in Japanese and Matrathi. Footage captured by Vijay Jog.

Series consists of correspondence, financial and legal documents, and other material gathered by Sheldon and Judy Godfrey as a research collection to support their work on Jewish families in Canada. The original documents are frequently supplemented by the Godfreys' research notes. Topics include the interconnected financial affairs of many of these families, particularly their involvement in the fur trade in Montreal and near the Straits of Michilimakinac, and their involvement in cultural and political affairs, such as the launch of the "National magazine" and the marketing of Gerald Hart's book, "The fall of New France," between its publication in 1888 and 1916. In addition to documentation on several families in Montreal, Quebec, Trois-Rivieres and Riviere-du-Loups, the series includes records of families and businesses in Toronto, including stationery and a small group of building permits issued by the city between 1899 and 1900. The series features correspondence between John A. Macdonald and George Benjamin (member of parliament for North Hastings) between 1857 and 1864 that offers private observations on political developments, and invitations and correspondence sent to Earl Rowe, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, that provide a glimpse of Jewish activities in the province between 1964 and 1984.

Series consists of digitized home movies documenting an Indian family in Canada communicating via video letters to family in India. Video letters include Indian nursery rhymes, biryani songs, and footage of children practicing Urdu and memorizing the Quran in Arabic.

Project and donor contributed description follows: "In the Javeed family’s apartment in Scarborough ON, two boys aged between 3 and 7 create a video letters to their grandmother who resides overseas in India. Both boys are born and live in Canada. The videos document shifts in communication technologies, at a time prior to the use of communication apps like WhatsApp, used to keep in touch with family. Scarborough was quite diverse by the early 2000s, and the boys generally felt connected to their peers, although their mother remembers they had experienced racism and some issues at school. She attests that they grew up differently than she did as a first generation immigrant, wherein she felt like an outsider in Toronto in the early eighties. The family had a lot of discussions as they were growing up about these issues, and ensured the boys were familiar with current affairs."

Series consists of files containing correspondence, financial records, memos, legal documents and other material related to Christie's involvement with Jane Mallet and Associates, the production company for which Christie was a partner along with Jane Mallet and Don Harron. It contains a considerable amount of correspondence between Harron and Christie related to the staging of various productions including Earle Birney's "Turvey" and to Chrisite's portrayals of Sir John A. MacDonald as part of the Canadian Centennial Commission's celebration of the centenary.

Accession consists of digitized home movies from an Indian family in Canada documenting family members visiting Canada. Project and donor contributed description follows: "Sometime between 1987 and 1988, it's the summer season and the Jabbar family welcomes uncles and aunts over for a visit to Canada, staying at their apartment in Scarborough, ON. Family was always welcome at the Jabbar household and they are happy and willing to stay for weeks at a time despite the small space. The footage shows how multigenerational the gatherings are, which included S's grandmother who recently came to live with the family."

Series consists of records generated in the course of Principe’s scholarly research on the subject of Italian Canadian artists. Principe researched mosaicists and sculptors working in Ontario and Quebec, especially from a workshop situated in the town of Spilimbergo in the province of Friuli-Venezia Giulia, (Walter Del Mistro, Alex von Svoboda, the Connolly family, Remo de Carli, Giovanni Gerometta, De Spirt family, and Luigi Nasato). This research coincided with an exhibition of Italian mosaics at the Royal Ontario Museum, entitled “The New Mosaic: Selections from Friuli, Italy” (2002-2003), which he helped to organize. Principe researched the Italian Canadian painter Albert Chiarandini in conjunction with celebration of the 75th anniversary of the cultural organization, the Famee Furlane held on 29 May 2007. The records include drafts and offprints of published essays, research notes, newspaper clippings, artist catalogues, correspondence, photographs, a reel of film and a DVD.

Series consists of records pertaining to a CIBPA Toronto history project about the origins of the association and other Italian-Canadian organizations in Toronto. The records in this series document interviews conducted with prominent members and associates of the CIPBA Toronto about the formation of the association, its relationship to other organizations, and the role of particular individuals in its development. These records include interview transcripts (in Italian and in English), draft essays regarding a number of Italian-Canadian organizations or clubs, notes and reports.

Series consists of records pertaining to Marilou McPhedran's involvement with the International Women's Rights Project (IWRP), founded in 1998 and initially based at the Centre for Refugee Studies at York University. The records in this series document McPhedran's work as founding director to fulfill the project's mandate, which was to strengthen the capacity of women's non-government organizations through research and activism to influence the implementation of international human rights standards. These records reflect IWRP's initial primary focus on the Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) Impact Study and Report, but also document projects that emerged from the CEDAW project, including initiatives regarding women's rights in Afghanistan and a project with the Kharvik Centre for Women's Studies in the Ukraine. Records in this series span the period of McPhedran's involvement with IWRP as founder, director and co-director, both at York University and at the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria, from 1998 to 2005. Records in this series include reports, correspondence, papers, newsletters, notes, memoranda, journal articles, photographs, fact sheets, grant proposals, notebooks, budgets, electronic records, audio cassettes, and grant proposals.

Series consists of material created and gathered by GATT-Fly and ICCSASW, in relation to four International Sugar Workers Conferences. Files contain correspondence, reports and notes regarding travel arrangements, participants, expenses, and other elements of conference organization, as well as photographs taken at conferences. The First International Sugar Workers Conference was held in Trinidad in 1977. The Second International Sugar Workers Conference was originally scheduled to be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in November 1982, but had to be postponed due to complications with travel visas for delegates. It was rescheduled for February 1983 in Toronto, Canada. The second conference established the ICCSASW. The Third International Sugar Workers Conference was held in Santo Domingo in 1987. It was the largest event organized by ICCSASW, with delegates from five continents. The last in the series of four conferences was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil in 1993.

Series consists of records documenting the activities of the WECT's International Executive Board and its Board of Directors. Includes correspondence, selected articles and clippings, subject files, reference files on other large encyclopedia projects, and agenda and minutes of board meetings and annual general meetings. Also includes records pertaining to the International Theatre Institute's and UNESCO's sponsorship of the project.

Series consists of records relating to Simpson's involvement with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) from 1972-1976, developing their program in education under the direction of Ruth Zagorin in the Social Sciences Division. Series includes minutes, reports, papers, notes, speeches, trip reports and other records documenting Simpson's work on international education projects for both adults and children, cooperation between private companies and educational institutions, and human resources development. Included in these IDRC records are those relating to Project IMPACT, one of IDRC's flagship projects. Project IMPACT was an action research project on the delivery of mass primary education, organized under INNOTECH, one of six regional centres operating under the umbrella of SEAMEO (Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organization). The project was first tested in Indonesia and the Philippines and later tested in Jamaica, Liberia, Malaysia and Bangladesh. Records include correspondence, notes, workbooks (modules) used by students, progress reports, publications, planning documents and other records. Series also consists of records relating to Simpson's co-directorship of the Forum for International Activities (FIA), 1984-1987, a non-profit association of public and private organizations interested in advancing the Canadian capacity to respond to requests from other countries for human resource development support. Records include papers, correspondence and planning documents. The series also consists of conference materials, reports and correspondence relating to international health efforts, including meetings relating to creating a Canadian University Federation of International Health. Series also includes various general articles on international development issues, publications and brochures from other development organizations, and travel material and notes from trips.

Series consists of records created and maintained by Pat Fleisher in her capacity as a founding member and treasurer of the Canadian branch of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA). These records are primarily notices and correspondence sent to members, but some files pertain to Fleisher's role in collecting membership dues for Canadian members and her travel to London to attend the 2000 AICA Congress. Files in this series also include a copy of a letters patent, grant application materials, a constitution and by-laws, and photographs.

Scope and content: Series consists of records documenting the work Simpson categorized as "strengthening and creating cultures of innovation." The series documents the founding and development of the Innovation Expedition, from its origins as the International Institute for Innovation or Triple i at the Banff Centre for Management, to its association with AXIA NetMedia from 1996 to 1999, and then its emergence as an independent company after 2000. The series consists of draft and final reports, concept papers, presentation diagrams and overhead transparencies, clippings, articles, book chapters, conference materials, booklets, brochures, toolkit elements, government publications, meeting and conference agendas, notes, speeches, correspondence, memoranda and newsletters. The records include general secondary resources on innovation including the following topics defined by the donor: innovations in education; measurement innovation; performance improvement toolkits; non-profit work; and understanding innovation. There are examples of innovation projects with which Simpson was involved, including the Science Council, IE's Global Innovation Congress, Textron, Banff Centre programmes, London Investment in Education Council (LIEC), Miles Canada (Bayer Pharmaceuticals), and EKS strategy of Germany. There are also several theme files which may have originated with the Mentoring records in S00508 but have been kept with this series as received by the donor; and collected reports, usually by the government, on Alberta. Records pertaining to the Alberta Roundtables and the Towards 2000 Together initiative include participant lists, working papers, final reports, preparatory readings and backgrounders on each roundtable issue. There is also material on the Premier's Conference on the Alberta's Economic Future in May 1992 (the culmination of the roundtables); and the Advisory Committee on Alberta's Economic Future (or multi-stakeholder advisory committee) of which Simpson was vice-chair following the roundtables. Records of the Triple i document its formation; strategic planning; initiatives and programs, including the genesis and launch of the Innovation Expedition; promotion; writings; and partners.

Series pertains to the organization and development of the Inde Festival of New Music and Dance, which was created in 1985 by Maguire and ran until 1992. These records include correspondence, financial statements, photographs, press releases, programmes, grant applications, proposals, contracts, notes and promotional materials. Also included in this series are administrative files pertaining to Maguire’s subsequent organization, Inde Multidisciplinary Arts Projects.

One of ICCSASW’s main program areas was the organization of regional and national seminars in collaboration with the relevant sugar workers’ unions. About 20 of these were held over a 10-year period. The two largest seminars were held in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, hosted by the National Federation of Sugar Workers – Foods & General Trades (NFSW-FGT) and focused on the Asia-Pacific region. From 1995 to 1997 three international seminars were held in Toronto, with an emphasis on providing unions with the latest economic information about their industry, as well as affording an opportunity for networking and building solidarity.

Series consists of publications by ICCSASW. ICCSASW published regular newsletters in English (“Sugar World”) and Spanish (“Mundo Azucarero”) throughout the years of its existence. For three or for years it also published newsletters in French (“Le Monde du Sucre”) and in Portuguese (“Mundo Açucareiro”). These publications carried news of unions, solidarity campaigns, changes in the industry, etc. There were also occasional research papers in English and Spanish, dealing in depth with different issues such as high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), violence, wage comparisons, diversification, women in the industry, Tate & Lyle, etc. Some files include correspondence related to ICCSASW's publications, as well as mailing lists and subscriber information.

Series consists of material relating to ICCSASW’s various committees. The ten-member Steering Committee was to meet annually and the Executive Committee was to meet on an ad-hoc basis. Series consists of records pertaining to Gentles’ research and publishing in the field of English history. Includes files pertaining to: the publishing of various articles and book reviews, as well as his monograph, The New Model Army in England, Ireland and Scotland, 1645-1653 (Blackwell, 1992); the Toronto Research Group in Early Modern British History; and various research trips dating from the late 1970s to the 1990s. Series also includes records related to the publishing of a Festschrift in honour of British historian Austin Woolrych, with whom Gentles had a longstanding relationship. The volume, Soldiers, Writers and Statesmen in the English Revolution (Cambridge University Press, 1998), was co-edited by Gentles. Series also includes several files of correspondence related to Gentles’ history research activities, as well as one file of personal correspondence.

Series consists of historical publications and newspapers preserved by Knowlton Nash because of the historical significance of their date or content. It includes memorial issues of American and Canadian newspapers and magazines related to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Robert F. Kennedy, the moon landing, the deaths of American presidents and Canadian prime ministers as well as early Canadian newspapers from the nineteenth century and newspapers published during World War II. Also included are three Christmas issues of English illustrated newspapers and a 1939 publication regarding the Royal Visit to Canada.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke in her role as a producer for the CBC's The Fifth Estate. These records pertain specifically to a 2007 program titled "The lady vanishes," which examines the relationship and separation of Nova Scotia couple Helena and Sandy Munroe, and document Burke's research work, interviews conducted, and travel plans made for the production of this program. Also included are viewer complaint letters sent to the CBC after the program aired. Records in this series include interview transcripts, newspaper articles, production materials, scripts, correspondence, copies of legal documents, travel itineraries, police records and audiovisual materials.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by McPhedran during and after her term as Corporate Director of the City of Toronto's Healthy City office, from 1991 to 1994. The records in this series pertain to some of the operations and activities of Healthy City, an initiative begun by the City of Toronto in 1989 with a focus on social equity, urban ecological management and the internal activities of the Corporation of the City of Toronto. McPhedran's role as Corporate Director included community development and organizational development through outreach and advocacy, research and policy analysis. These records document in particular McPhedran's work on the 1991 State of the City Report, related conferences, committee work, and research relating to the Healthy City mandate. Some records in this series were created and used after her term as Corporate Director ended, as she remained involved with Healthy City initiatives and the Healthy Communities movement throughout the 1990s. Included in this series are files consisting of notes, correspondence, minutes, memoranda, pamphlets, newsletters, reports, newspaper and magazine clippings, notices, flyers, journal articles, and conference materials.

Series consists of certificates of appreciation and membership from organizations such as The National Organization of Child Care Worker Associations Inc., The Christian Festival, The Board of Governors of Humber College of Applied Arts and Technology, The Coalition for Gun Control, the Canadian Criminal Justice Association, and a certificate of appreciation from the African National Congress signed by Nelson R. Mandela in 1995. Series includes reports, meeting minutes, research updates, memoranda, notes and articles from organizations such as the Vanier Institute of the Family, the Law Commission of Canada, the Round Table on Citizen Agency, Big Brothers of Canada, and the Church Council on Justice and Corrections, as well as correspondence between officials of the institutions and Mohr.
