Series consists of records pertaining to Drache’s academic writing and research project work. These records include drafts and published copies of his writing for journals, books and other publications, research and subject files on political economics, free trade and globalization, project files for initiatives undertaken while director of the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies, and files pertaining to his research about Harold Innis and his role in the organization of Innis centenary activities held in 1994. File consists of materials pertaining to the organization of this interdisciplinary workshop/conference, part of the 1994 Harold Innis Centenary Celebration, held on 14-16 January 1994 at York University. Included are an event programme, participant contact lists, bibliographies and abstracts, copies of correspondence and CVs.

1982 project outline

File consists of a detailed outline sent by Drache to H. J. Glasbeek pertaining to a research project on the social and economic rights of Canadian workers, as well as a report from the National Council of Welfare on poverty in Canada in 1980, an article and newspaper clippings on Canadian standards of living.

Alan Porter's Innis notes

File consists of photocopies of Alan Porter's undated handwritten notes, taken while a student in Harold Innis' economic history class.

Drache - Boyer workshop

File consists of correspondence, campus maps and SSHRC notice of award pertaining to a research workshop co-organized by Drache and Professor Robert Boyer entitled "Global markets: do nation-states have a future", held at York University on 7-9 January 1994.

Drache-Higgott

File consists of letters sent to participants in a seminar organized by Drache and Richard Higgott entitled "Governing the public domain beyond the era of the Washington Consensus?: Redrawing the line between the state and the market". These letters concern guidelines for the publication of participant papers in a book, which became "The market or the public domain?: global governance and the asymmetry of power", edited by Drache and published in 2001.

Chicago : Innis

File consists of a report created by Drache's research assistant, Matthew Evenden, that summarizes in detail the contents of correspondence files from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s pertaining to Harold Innis, part of the University of Chicago's Department of Special Collections. Photocopies of the letters are included in the file, accompanied by Evenden's typescript transcriptions for the handwritten letters.

Engin/Routledge

File consists of correspondence exchanged between Drache and Engin F. Isin regarding Isin's draft book proposal for "Rights to the city: citizenship, democracy and cities in a global age", which is also included in the file.

From Creighton archives

File consists of research notes created by Drache's assistant and photocopies of Innis correspondence from the Donald Creighton archives held at the National Archives of Canada.

File of correspondence and proposals created by Drache for an Innis reader, submitted to the MacMillan Company of Canada Ltd., as well as a copy of his article, "Rediscovering Canadian history", which he sent to the University of Toronto Press.

Global ecology workshop : invitations to participants

File consists of a programme, budget incoming and outgoing correspondence pertaining to the organization of a conference/workshop on global political ecology held at the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University on 24-27 February 1994, part of Innis centenary celebrations.

Guide to Innis materials at the Rockefeller Archive Center

File consists of a descriptive guide to the Harold Innis-related records held at the Rockefeller Archive Center, as well as photocopies of those materials, which are primarily correspondence and memoranda originally written by Innis between the 1930s and 1950s. The guide was created by Drache's research assistant, Matthew Evenden.

History project

File consists of records pertaining to the a York Region District School Board's senior symposium on Canadian culture in the 21st century. These records are a proposal, budget and timelines. Also included is a description of another independent study project entitled "Canada in a North American perspective", from the 1992-93 Milliken Pond Canadian Constitutional Conference.

Innis : birthday celebration

File consists of correspondence, draft event programmes, a contact list and a research bulletin pertaining to the organization of events and publications pertaining to the Innis centenary and Drache's involvement as a member of the Toronto organizing committee.

Innis centenary

File consists of an overview of the Innis centenary celebrations, a workshop schedule, newspaper articles, a description of the Harold Innis 'Birthday Bash', Drache's notes from a lunch with Robert Innes, notes, Drache's proposal for a book of essays about Innis, and correspondence pertaining to centenary planning.

Innis conference, Simon Fraser University

File consists of a prospectus entitled "Celebrating the Innis centenary: the man, his legacy, our future", written by Drache and John Browne, correspondence and a conference programme pertaining to "Monopolies of knowledge: a conference honouring the work of Harold A. Innis", held at Simon Fraser University, a notice for a conference held at Concordia University entitled "Harold Innis and intellectual practice for the new century: interdisciplinary and critical studies", and programmes for a Innis Centenary Celebration conference at York University on global political ecology, a workshop series entitled "Global markets: do nation-states have a future", and a workshop/conference entitled "Art and money, or, what is it worth?"

Innis : Fisher, Donald

File consists of a paper and accompanying letter by Donald Fisher entitled "Harold A. Innis and the Canadian Social Science Research Council: an experiment in boundary work". Fisher presented this paper at an Innis conference held in Montreal.

File consists of materials sent to Drache by Adams, the founder of Environics Research Group. File consists of Drache's letter of intent, research and methodology report, notes and research materials pertaining to his social inclusion public domain index pilot project.

File consists of a letter and committee comments from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada pertaining to Drache's letter of intent submitted for this project to the Major Collaborative Research Initiatives Program, which was not approved, as well as an email sent from York University's Michael Stevenson to Drache regarding a lack of funding for this project.
