rchival repositories such as York University Libraries' Clara Thomas Archives & Special Collections preserve records, papers, photographs, film, sound recordings and lots of other forms of historical information created by individuals, families and organizations over time. Most of these materials are available to the public to access, research and enjoy. This portal provides a searchable database of the over 600 archival fonds available at the university's academic archives. Some archives will be described to a greater detail than others, based on patron demands and institutional priorities. Where possible, links are available to digitized and born-digital material contained within these collections. Previous digitization of these finding aids was made possible – in part or entirely – through the Canadian Culture Online Program of Canadian Heritage, the National Archives of Canada and the Canadian Council of Archives.
