Writing and related files

Series consists of records pertaining to Crosbie’s career as a writer, reviewer and editor. Records include draft manuscripts, poems and articles, research materials, page proofs, notes, invoices, correspondence, speaking notes, programmes, posters and photographs. These records document the writing, publication and promotion of Crosbie’s books of poetry, prose and non-fiction, including Miss Pamela’s Mercy (1992), The Girl Wants To (1993), VillainElle (1994), Pearl (1995), Paul’s Case (1997), Click: Becoming Feminists (1997), Queen Rat (1998), Dorothy L’Amour (1999), Missing Children (2003), Liar (2006), Life Is About Losing Everything (2012) and Where Did You Sleep Last Night (2015), as well as her writing for newspapers, magazines and literary journals. Also included in this series are reviews of Crosbie’s books, manuscripts by other writers sent to Crosbie for comment or review, and copies of her published poems, literary reviews, newspaper and magazine articles.

Photographs of Superfly Alien Pimp

File consists of photographs taken by Bruce McDonald while on a road trip through Vancouver, Seattle and Los Angeles. These photographs feature various people posing with a toy alien wearing a coat. Included in the file is a handwritten note by Crosbie explaining the context of the photographs. Photographs have been annotated on verso by McDonald with the names of the subjects. Subjects of the photographs include Lisa and Paul Zimmerman, John Frizzell, Pam Rack, Jonathan Poneman, Kerri Harrop, Michael Turner, Karen Powell, Kevin Smith, Michael Madson, Paul Federbush, and Scott Bairstow.

Series consists of a variety of items created or accumulated by Crosbie pertaining to her personal and professional life, including photographs, miscellaneous ephemera, event notices and programmes, award certificates, a diploma, posters, drawings, a painting, an art print, t-shirts, and a sweater belonging to Mordecai Richler.

File consists of published newspaper and magazine articles and reviews written by Crosbie for publications including Zoomer Magazine, NOW Toronto, Books in Canada, Chatelaine, Quill & Quire, Saturday Night, Toronto Life, Maclean's, LightNews, and On the Up.

Miscellaneous personal mementos

File consists of items collected and/or accumulated by Crosbie, including a toy belonging to her dog, a pair of earrings, a pen used by Marilyn Manson, items pertaining to the suicide of Daniel Jones and to Tony Burgess. These items are accompanied by explanatory notes written by Crosbie.

Fonds consists of records documenting Lynn Crosbie’s work as a writer, journalist and teacher, including manuscripts, draft articles and poems, published copies of her articles and poems, correspondence, videocassettes, audio cassettes, photographs, notebooks, day planners, lecture notes, research materials, course materials and student assignments. Notebooks, sketchbooks and day planners

Series consists of notebooks, day planners and sketchbooks created and/or used by Crosbie, as well as a number of calendars and an address book. The notebooks in this series include a variety of writing, including general notes, lists, notes pertaining to Crosbie’s writing projects and PhD research, as well as personal writing and drawings. Some items in this series contain loose ephemeral items, notes, letters, and photographs.

File consists of catalogues from Coach House Press, MacFarlane Walter & Ross, Insomniac Press, Turtle Point Press, House of Anansi and HarperCollins featuring Crosbie's books of poetry and prose.

Student projects

File consists of student projects from Crosbie's Summer 2015 course, Introduction to Creative Writing, at OCAD University.

Correspondence

File consists of correspondence mainly pertaining to Crosbie's literary and teaching careers, including a license agreement for lyrics appearing in Where Did You Sleep Last Night, an editorial assignment form from Rogers, a contract from Westwood Creative Artists, a letter from the Canada Council for the Arts regarding her Public Lending Right program payment, a letter from the University of Toronto offering her a teaching position, and a letter from Insomniac Press informing her that her book Paul's Case is out of print.

File consists of newspaper, magazine and literary journal reviews of Crosbie's published poetry, edited collections and novels.

File consists of student projects from Crosbie's Summer 2015 course, Introduction to Creative Writing, at OCAD University.
