Mariposa Folk Festival Programme

Item consists of the 28 page Mariposa Folk Festival program for 1968, held on Toronto Islands, Toronto, Ontario from 9-11 August, 1968. The program was designed by Richard Flohil with graphic designs by Murray McLaughlan, featuring the Mariposa sun motif on the cover in black ink on a bright yellow background.

Audio recordings : "Fabric"; #3 and #4 (half-speed) repeated, 1) work-tape #68 (#3 and #4 (half-speed) repeated) 2) work-tape HI (all of 12 + 34 + 68 at the higher speed)

Consists of five tracks by James Tenney of samples for his work "Fabric". Annotations on case include: "Fabric #3 +4 (half speed) repeated ~ 20 min at 7 1/2 ips work tape #68 1. work-tape #68 (#3 + #4 (half-speed) repeated) 20 min at 7 1/2 ips 2. work tape HI (all of 12 + 24 + 68 at the higher speed 10 min. at 7 1/2 ips)".

Consists of voice recordings made by James Tenney during a road trip, while visiting Walt and Millie Chandler. In it Walt talks about his early childhood in Texas, New Mexico, 'Old Mexico', the history of the extended Chandler families, related to freighting, railroad contracting, lumber mills, and other industrial projects in Texas in the early 1900s, Mormonism, Morman colonies in Texas and Mexico. Millie Chandler joins the conversation at about 00:15:00. The couple describe how they met and their marriage together. Walt also discusses the First World War (he served in the navy) and his travels in the North Sea and Scotland.

Recording consists of James Tenney as he sets out for a cross-country road trip. He travels from New Paltz to Winchester, Virginia, discussing variou topics (anticipation, delayed satisfaction, the purpose of life, astrology, music and other topics. Later he records thoughts a a motel, including the purpose of art, he records some music he has been thinking of and finally he discusses his past relationships with women. Annotations on case include: #1 - July 8, New Paltz to Winchester Va. Mariposa Folk Festival Programme

Item consists of the 29 page Mariposa Folk Festival program for 1969, held on the Toronto Islands, Toronto, Ontario on 25-27 July 1969. The program was designed by Leigh Cline and Richard Flohil, featuring the Mariposa sun logo on the cover designed by Murray McLaughlan. Program includes a list of performer biographies, as well as an illustrated schedule of daytime concerts and workshops. Also features a retrospective of photographs taken at the 1968 festival by William Smith, and an essay about the 1968 festival by Joe Lewis.

Reception for Andreas Papandreou

Mariposa Folk Festival Souvenir program

Item consists of a 29 page festival program for the Mariposa Folk Festival of 1970, which ran from 24 - 26 July, 1970. Program designers were Frank Perold and Dick Flohil with the centre spread design by Murray McLauchlan. Also includes an anonymous article "Native People's Festival Widens Craft Area at Mariposa" and a retrospective selection of photographs of performers from first 10 years of the festival.
