File consists of: clippings about copper mining in the Belgian Congo and Rhodesia, 1929; a memo regarding manganese deposits in South Africa, 1929; a map of the main roads crossing Africa, undated; and a report on the 'Vlakpontein nickel deposits' in the Transvaal, South Africa, written by Robert Hoffman in 1930. The report includes a history of the region, the location of the nickel deposits and a geological study.

The fonds consist of material that documents Rayfield's career as a Professor of Anthropology and, to a lesser extent, her personal life. The majority of files consist of annotated photocopied material obtained through interlibrary loans (the card catalogue indexing this material was prepared by Zdenka's long-time assistant, the late Charlotte Carrol). Files also contain material related to her involvement at York University and her research on the kingship and royal ritual in Ngoyo, Africa.
