Professional and professorial files

Series consists primarily of textual records documenting Sternberg's professorial and professional careers. These records include curation and course proposals, notes, and ephemera; resumes; conference materials; interviews; research; copies, typescripts, and drafts of published and unpublished works; screening, talks, and tour records; writings related to screening introductions; exhibition records; film festival programs and publications; posters; and film periodicals and newsletters. Also included are materials pertaining to Sternberg's work with the Community Arts Centre, a selection of published works by or belonging to Sternberg, and a copy of George Clark's essay "To the Distant Observer: On the Films of Barbara Sternberg." In addition to textual records, this series includes posters, DVDs, photographs, and 35mm slides.

ICCSASW Committees

Series consists of material relating to ICCSASW’s various committees. The ten-member Steering Committee was to meet annually and the Executive Committee was to meet on an ad-hoc basis. The Advisory Management Committee assisted on budgeting matters. Files contain committee meeting reports, resolutions, budgets, photographs, notes and some correspondence.

Literary manuscripts and other writing

The series consists of research material, notes, manuscript and typescript drafts and proofs related to stories, essays, articles and book reviews written by Sheard, to her novels "Almost Japanese", "The Swing Era", "The Hypnotist", "Krank: love in the new dark times", and to her play "The House Guest". It also includes correspondence with publishers and publicity material for several of her works.

Administrative and fundraising

Series predominantly consists of general correspondence with and information about other dance companies. Records include fundraising documents, such as records of donations, corporate and foundation sponsorship and appeals, material from the Board of Director's Fundraising committee, samples of appeal letters, and related material.

Series consists of records accumulated and created by Pat Fleisher between 1975 and 2008. The records in this series pertain to Fleisher's work as an art magazine publisher and her acquisition of content for those publications, specifically relating to artist profiles and the promotion of art shows. These records include unsolicited artist portfolios, materials submitted to Fleisher for use in her Artfocus "cybergallery", and photographs of artwork and artist biographical materials accumulated by Fleisher for use in her magazines and/or for the production of Fleisher's freelance art-related writing. Files in this series consist of artist bios and CVs, art cards, newspaper and magazine articles, photographs, computer disks, and art show promotional materials.

Series consists of roughly chronological files containing financial statements, season reports, contract with performers, sales reports, grant applications, correspondence with outside organizations, programming proposals, publicity material including press releases, programs, media contact lists, clippings, photographs, and other material related to the activities and the performances of the Music Gallery.

Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario files

Records in this series document Larry Grossman’s work with the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party as a member of provincial parliament and party leader. Includes: campaign materials; opposition research; polling data; policy papers; debate briefing books and research; press releases; campaign schedules/itineraries; clippings; and party convention delegate reports.

The events covered include the 1977, 1981, 1985 and 1987 Ontario general elections; Grossman’s unsuccessful campaign for leader of the party in January 1985 and his successful campaign in November 1985.

Series contains textual records and photographs pertaining to Sternberg's personal life, including medical information and personal correspondence. Included in the series is a file of Sternberg's correspondence with Canadian experimental artist and art educator Michael Fernandes.

Audiovisual material

Series consists of media coverage of Jean Augustine's professional activities as a member of Parliament, cabinet minister and community advocate, including video recordings of her public appearances, as well as recordings of her appearance on radio and television. Also includes music recordings and documentaries submitted to Augustine by members of the community and some lobby groups.

Series consists of five video reels featuring Forer’s lectures on various aspects of cell division, produced by Glen-Warren Productions Limited and aired as five episodes of CTV’s University of the Air television program in 1978.

Metropolitan Toronto Action Committee on Violence Against Women and Children files

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Marilou McPhedran relating to METRAC, its mandate and its activities. Records in this series document a number of METRAC's projects in the 1990s, including its involvement with the May-Iles inquest and other legal cases, public safety audits for the Royal Bank and the Toronto Transit Commission, an Ontario Women's Justice Network project, and the production of METRAC publications on stalking and domestic violence. Also included in this series are McPhedran's subject files regarding violence against women and children, METRAC administrative files, and files pertaining to meetings of METRAC's board of directors, on which McPhedran served as a member and/or chair during this period. Series consists of annual reports of Herzberg's professional activities; correspondence with the departmental chair, dean, and other faculty members; the faculty strike of 1996/1997; efforts over 20 years to restrict smoking at York; and other topics.

Subject files

Series consists of a variety of records created and accumulated by Marilou McPhedran. These records reflect the scope of McPhedran's political, professional and research interests and activities. Subjects covered in this series include constitutional reform, women's health (national and international), feminism, family violence, sexual abuse, and workplace discrimination/harassment. Also documented in this series is McPhedran's participation in conferences, political campaigns and committee work. Records pertaining to some of McPhedran's contractual employment, articles written and her biographical information are also part of this series. Files in this series include notes, conference materials, brochures and pamphlets, journal articles, correspondence, newspaper clippings, memoranda, reports, CVs, electronic documents, and photographs.

Teaching files

Series consists of files pertaining to courses taught by Forer at York University’s Department of Biology. These files include course materials such as syllabi, outlines, reading lists, handouts, examinations and tests, as well as correspondence and Forer’s lecture notes.

General Manager's files

Series consists of minutes of committee meetings, agendas, memos, contracts, correspondence with other organizations, reports and other material maintained by the TDT's general manager. Included are files which document the TDT purchase of its office at 80 Winchester, the Dance in Canada Conference at Expo 86, the 1994 Asian Tour and the Canadian Conference of Arts.

Anne of Green Gables: files related to the musical

Series consists of files related to productions of "Anne of Green Gables : the musical," and any changes or modifications to the script. This includes correspondence, requests to perform the musical, photographs and ephemera pertaining to amateur productions, screenplays of the musical, reviews and newspaper clippings. Series also contains copies of the original script and proposed changes. Series further contains correspondence, resumes and photographs received during a casting call for a production of the musical.

General grant application files

Series consists of completed grant applications prepared by the TDT for submission to the Toronto Arts Council, Metro Toronto Cultural Affairs and to various Provincial and Federal Ministries for general operations grants, tour funding and targeted grants as well as post-performance stage managers reports and related correspondence.

Press photographs

The series consists press photos of actors, artists, theatre companies and festivals received by Friedlander during the course of her work as a theatre critic and writer.

Photographs and memorabilia

Series consists of photographs and personal memorabilia accumulated by and pertaining to Marilou McPhedran. The photographs in this series are predominantly commissioned portraits of McPhedran used for publication and biographical materials, but also include photographs taken at special events. Memorabilia in this series consists of autographed copies of books written by McPhedran's friends and colleagues.

Photographs

Series consists of black and white head shots of Toronto Dance Theatre dancers and black and white and colour photographs of performances. In both cases, the photos were most likely used for front of house shots. The dancers and the show for which the photos were taken are identified on the backs of the photographs along with the photographers name if known.

Refugee case files

Series consists of files maintained by Nancy Pocock and pertaining to her work as a refugee case worker. Files contain applications and testimonies of individuals and families applying for refugee status in Canada, correspondence with government bodies and other individuals and organizations concerned with the status of refugees as well as background information on respective applicants and/or their country of origin. The files have been arranged alphabetically by name of applicant or country of origin.

Election meeting records

Series consists of records pertaining to the CIBPA Toronto's election dinner meetings held in May or June, often in conjunction with the association's annual general meeting, to elect members to the association's board of directors. These records document organization and planning for these events, membership attendance and instructions for voting. Files in this series consist of notices, ballots, newsletters, correspondence, nominations forms, financial statements, guest lists, sign-in sheets, scripts, candidate biographies and survey forms.

Feminist Challenge files

Series consists of records created by Janice Newton while completing her PhD research at York University and, later, adapting her dissertation into the 1995 monograph The Feminist Challenge to the Canadian Left, 1900-1918 (McGill-Queen's University Press). The records include research notes, correspondence, photocopies of primary source materials, lecture notes, scrapbooks, photographic prints and negatives, and an audio interview with Mary Ford, niece of Mary Cotton Wisdom.

Canadian Creative Music Collective recordings

Series consists of audio recordings of the CCMC's bi weekly performances and includes recordings by such musicians as Peter Anson, Paul Dutton, John Kamevaar, Nobuo Kubotu, Allen Mattes, John Oswald, Michael Snow, Casey Sokol and Jack Vorvis, among others.

General files

Series includes miscellaneous records on topics related to overseas development, economic justice, trade union matters, government policies and other issues that could affect the work of trade union solidarity. Files include correspondence, mailing lists, miscellaneous photographs and reference material, as well as records relating to office administration, staffing etc.

Music and entertainment business files

Series consists of copyright files kept by Paul and Brenda Hoffert related to their own work as well as to the work of artists that they produced. The files contain certificates of registration for the Canadian Copyright Office, Publishers Registrations forms and other legal documents related to the copyright of songs.

Sexual abuse prevention guide files

Series consists of records created and used by Marilou McPhedran in the preparation of her 2004 book, "Preventing sexual abuse of patients : a legal guide for health professionals," co-authored with Wendy Sutton. These records document the research and writing undertaken for the completion of the book, as well as details of their publishing agreement with Butterworths, the book's publication and speaking events at which McPhedran and Sutton spoke on topics pertaining to the book. Files in this series include drafts, manuscripts, correspondence, journal articles, newspaper clippings, computer disks, video cassettes, and photographs.

Sound recordings

Series consists of sound recordings of readings, speeches and convocations addresses by Margaret Laurence, interviews with Laurence (includes interview with Helen Trotter re: the Censorship Controversy), tributes to Laurence, recordings of Songs From The Diviners, and other recordings of interviews and presentations of interest to Laurence. Two filmstrips accompany two of the audio cassettes.

Osgoode Hall Law School files

Series consists of records pertaining to Mandel’s activities during his tenure as a professor at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School from 1974 to 2013.

ICCSASW publications

Series consists of publications by ICCSASW. ICCSASW published regular newsletters in English (“Sugar World”) and Spanish (“Mundo Azucarero”) throughout the years of its existence. For three or for years it also published newsletters in French (“Le Monde du Sucre”) and in Portuguese (“Mundo Açucareiro”). These publications carried news of unions, solidarity campaigns, changes in the industry, etc. There were also occasional research papers in English and Spanish, dealing in depth with different issues such as high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), violence, wage comparisons, diversification, women in the industry, Tate & Lyle, etc. Some files include correspondence related to ICCSASW's publications, as well as mailing lists and subscriber information.

Personal files

The series consists of correspondence, certificates, articles, contracts and other financial documents, clippings, newsletters, diaries, note books and photographs created and/or accumulated by John Smith and relating to his personal life and interests.

Day planners of Marilou McPhedran

Series consists of day planners maintained by Marilou McPhedran, spanning a 30-year period from 1973 to 2003. These records document McPhedran's scholastic, professional and personal activities, as they record course schedules, examinations, appointments and telephone numbers. Some day planners include photographs of McPhedran and her children taped in the covers, notes, and other loose items. Day planners for the years 1974, 1981, 1982 and 1984 are missing from this series. A note by McPhedran at the end of the 2003 day planner states that it will be her last because of a switch to an electronic Blackberry organizer.

Series consists of correspondence received by John Smith during the course of his career as a director and producer and business records of Smith's company, Dunany Productions Inc., including copies of year end files.

Programs and projects

Series consists of information related to ICCSASW’s work on various programs and projects for the benefit of the sugar workers. These included hosting visiting union staff at the Toronto secretariat, a documentation centre, exchanges among specific countries, building regional networks, etc. Files contain notes and correspondence, copies of labour agreements, minutes, reports, registration forms, newsletters and other program-related materials.

Teaching Materials

Series consists of lecture notes, correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, and award nominations pertaining to Armstrong's academic career, holding positions at York University, Sir Sandford Fleming College and Vanier College, as well as a Student Information Officer at the University of Toronto Students' Administrative Council.

Academic files

Series consists of correspondence, notes and other material related to Paikin's enrolment to the University of Toronto as well as files related to many courses taken by Paikin including English, Canadian Studies, French, History, Latin and Philosophy. These files contain lecture notes, essays, course outlines and other material related to his studies. The series contains records of his early radio work at the University of Toronto where he was the play-by-play announcer for university hockey and football games and includes Paikin's notes and background material related to the University of Toronto Varsity Blues teams as well as an audio recording of a hockey game for which Paikin was an announcer. It also contains material related to his application to the broadcast journalism programme at Boston University and includes his MA Thesis proposal, correspondence with his advisors and drafts of his thesis on the Jane-Finch area of Toronto.

CBC files

Series consists of documents created or accumulated by Knowlton Nash in the course of his work with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. The records are generally arranged in chronological order (files with the title, "CBC," in the file list), but many documents were pulled together into subject files on a particular topic. The series includes letters and memoranda involving programming and journalism issues, including the evolving nature of television news coverage, the impact of ratings, and journalistic appointments, as well as mementos from political conventions covered by Nash. These records cover a wide range of topics, including: contract negotiations between Nash and the CBC; Nash's proposals for changes to news reporting; the CBC Correspondents Association; the federal government's control over news coverage during the October Crisis, 1970; protection of sources, including legal action against Nash; the impact of controversial programs, such as the hearings over "Air of death" that dealt with air pollution in 1967 to 1968, and libel actions involving various CBC correspondents; the departure of Lloyd Robertson for CTV News in 1976; the policy governing access by prime ministers to the CBC for broadcasts; Nash's statement to the Canadian Radio and Television Commission regarding the CBC's application to renew its license in 1978; the action by the Canadian Union of Public Employees against the CBC and Knowlton Nash in an attempt to stop journalists from reading the news on television, 1978 to 1980; development of The National and The Journal and the move of nightly news to 10:00 p.m.; Nash's decision to step down as Chief Correspondent in 1988 and his retirement in 1992; news specials on the 50th anniversary of D-Day in 1994; presentations to the CBC Board of Directors on the future on television news reporting during retreats from 1996 to 2001; and an unpublished manuscript on the news show, The Fifth estate. The series also includes several published reports on the CBC, its history, mandate, policies, and future.

Dance, theatre and performing arts programs and flyers

Series consists of dance, theatre, music and other performing arts programs, brochures, flyers, magazines, and newsletters collected by Selma Odom from 1972 to 2008. Materials represent dance performances, events, and venues primarily in North America and Europe, with strong representation of the Toronto dance scene.

Speeches

Series consists of typescripts and handwritten notes of speeches given by Campbell at various events, such as commencement ceremonies, graduation ceremonies, anniversaries, panel discussions and family gatherings. The majority of speaking engagements appear to have been organized privately, but some were organized by the CBC, such as those for chapters of the Canadian Club. Series also contains other materials for or from a speaking engagement, such as correspondence, conference materials, programs, and travel itineraries, and photographs of Campbell with guests at various speaking engagements.

Subject files on broadcast journalism

Series consists of documents created or accumulated by Knowlton Nash as a result of his involvement with various organizations, or his work as a journalist before and after his career with the CBC. Files pertain to: Washington through Canadian eyes, a newsletter written and published by Nash from 1958 to 1959; the United States election of 1966 and the last electoral campaign of Robert Kennedy in June 1968; job offers during the 1960s; the Canadian Business Hall of Fame; relations between Canada and the United States during the 1990s; Quebec sovereignty between 1991 and 1995; the Canadian Institute of International Affairs; Nash's work as Chair of the Advisory Council for the Canadian Organization for Development Through Education (CODE); correspondence regarding Christmas functions held by Knowlton and Lorraine Thomson Nash; his work as spokesperson for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Developing Countries Farm Radio Network; Nash's work as a Director of the Gordon Sinclair Foundation; creation of the Knowlton Nash Prize in Journalism, 2000; his involvement with the National Speakers Bureau from 1987 to 2006; the Toronto Arts Award and Word on the Street; columns for the Osprey Media Group and The Globe and Mail; Nash's relationship with the University of Regina, School of Journalism and Communications from 1981 to 2005 (including his teaching notes for 1992-1993); awards presented to Knowlton Nash, including his honorary doctorate from York University in 2005; and general research notes on media.

Pending and unproduced project files

Series consists of files pertaining to incomplete, pending or cancelled projects. Includes research materials, notes, correspondence, proposals, agreements, synopses, scripts, financial records, insurance records, mutual releases, location material, audio and video recordings.

Manuscripts

Series consists of scripts by Joyce Wieland and others, Wieland's writings in notebooks, and lecture notes on painting.

Correspondence and subject files

Series consists of personal and professional correspondence including manuscript and typescript letters as well as e-mail received by Sheard and, in many cases, copies of letters written by Sheard herself. Among the correspondents are Michael Ondaatje, Margaret Dragu, Griffin Ondaatje, Margaret Atwood, Alberto Manguel, Susan Swan, Ann Ireland, Daphne Marlatt, Phyllis Webb, Jan Kudelka, Audrey Thomas, Brian Fawcett, David Young, Marian Engel, Seiji Ozawa, John Metcalf, Robert Kroetsch, Libby Sheier, Timothy Findley and Roy Kiyooka. The subject files consist of correspondence, notes and other collected material that document Sheard's writing career including grant applications and contact letters. Also included are materials that document her association with the National Book Festival and the Zen Buddhist Temple in Toronto, as well as her training and work as a psychotherapist.

Speeches

Series consists of the text of speeches delivered by Knowlton Nash to a wide variety of audiences across Canada. The speeches focus on broadcast journalism and television news services, either in the general context of CBC programming, or tailored to reflect the content of a book written by Nash. Themes include the importance, standards, and ethics of journalism, its relationship with politics, and the role of television news reporting in developing a democratic society, a national identity, and national unity. Many of the speeches were arranged by CBC officials, in order to raise the profile of its news and information services and to develop connections between operations based in Toronto and Canadians at a local or regional level.

Photographs

Series consists of photographs of, by or collected by George Papadatos and pertain to events held by the Toronto Greek-Canadian community during the 1970s TO 1990s, such as musical performances, dances, the Toronto coffee house scene, political meetings and rallies, parades. Some photographs relating to the Trojan Horse coffee house can also be found in the scrapbook in 2014-044/001(10).

Series consists of interviews, speeches, discussions, and other personal interest recordings.

Canada Council Grant Application files

Series consists of applications prepared by the TDT for submission to the Canada Council for grants to support its general operations, to earn funding for its tours or to receive financial assistance for specific projects. Series also includes budgets, post-performance stage managers reports and correspondence related to the grant applications. (Copies of Canada Council applications may appear in the General Manager's and Engagement Files.)

The series consists of research material, notes, drafts and manuscripts of Powe's published and unpublished works including his books "A Climate Changed" (1984), "Noise of Time" (1989), "A Tremendous Canada of Light" (1993), "Outage: A Journey Into Electric City" (1995), "The Solitary Outlaw: Trudeau, Lewis, Gould, Canetti, McLuhan", "Mystic Trudeau" (1997), "Towards a Canada of Light" (2006), "These Shadows Remain" (2011), his 2009 PhD thesis, "Apocalypse and alchemy: visions of Marshall McLuhan and Northrop Frye", the reworked and published version of his PhD thesis, "Marshall McLuhan and Northrop Frye: Apocalypse and Alchemy" (2014), "Where Seas and Fables Meet" (2015), and "Decoding Dust" (2016). It also includes drafts and/or printed copies of numerous reviews, essays and articles written by or about him, and drafts pertaining to the "Opening Time: On the Energy Threshold" collaborative project. Series also includes correspondence with publishers and fellow writers such as Irving Layton, Hugh Kenner and J.G. Ballard in reference to his work, publicity material for several of his books, and copies of journals and magazines in which Powe's work appeared.

Series consists of materials created and accumulated by Hutchman pertaining to a variety of subjects, particularly his involvement with literary events, talks given at high schools, conferences and professional organizations, including the League of Canadian Poets, the Writers’ Union of Canada, the Writers’ Federation of New Brunswick, and the New Brunswick Arts Council.

Series consists of contracts, correspondence, budgets, performance reports, pre-tour information and other material relating to performances and/or appearances by the TDT in Toronto and elsewhere including specific TDT engagements in Asia, Colorado and Jacobs Pillow, Massachusetts. Prior to 1982, the engagement files were the responsibility of the TDT Production department; following 1982, this responsibility was shared by the Company Manager or the Tour Coordinator.

Pro-life literature, bioethics research and deVeber Institute files

Series consists of pro-life literature and other records pertaining to Gentles’ research on bioethical issues, primarily abortion and assisted suicide. Also includes administrative and research records related to the deVeber Institute for Bioethics and Social Research (formerly the Human Life Research Institute), a pro-life think-tank of which Gentles is Vice-President and Research Director. Contains notes, correspondence, drafts, articles, clippings, meeting minutes, agendas, reports, financial statements, and other material.

Research and writing files

Series consists of records pertaining to Jarrell's various academic research and writing projects, including his book "Educating the Neglected Majority". Records include notes, lists, statistics, draft articles and manuscripts, bibliographies, copies of membership lists and directories, reproductions of archival records, publications, photographs, and Jarrell's research index cards, organized by research subject. Also included in this series are textbooks written and used by Jarrell to teach his classes at York University.

Among the earlier writings represented in this series can be found copies of essays, articles and plays written by Sherman during his years in the Creative Writing Program at York University as well as typescript copies and clippings of several of his articles and reviews which have appeared in The Globe and Mail, The Toronto Star, Books in Canada and other publications.

Series consists of records accumulated and created by David Charles while working as an on-set dresser, set decorator and prop master for television productions filmed in Toronto, Ontario, between 1970 and 2011. The records in this series are predominantly scripts and assorted production materials. These production materials include staff, cast and crew lists, contact lists, call sheets, storyboards, research materials, shooting schedules, photographs, props notes, set drawings, budgets and expense reports, notes, invoices, location breakdowns, legal research materials, vendor lists, and floor plans.

Research and company files

Series consists of material related to Hoffert's technological and theoretical interests including material pertaining to work begun at the National Research Council on music created using computer technology and carried out with a number of companies concerned with audio data and interactive technology. It contains business and research plans, copyright and legal materials, correspondence, reports, memoranda and other material for companies including McLeyvier, DHJ Research, Marquis Music, Time Out for Fun and the Cultech Research Centre, a project based at York University intended to investigate digital content use by residents in a housing development in suburban Toronto.

Sound recordings

Series consists of audio recorded interviews with members of the Jewish diaspora that immigrated to Palestine during the 1920s – 1950s from countries around the world including Germany, South Africa, New York and Poland. Reference is made to a world event an individual was involved in or the place(s) they came from and the year they immigrated. The interviews were used in Ben Wicks’s published book “Dawn of the Promised Land.” Other material includes interviews for the Ben Wicks television show and humorous stories told by Wicks.

Writing files

Series consists of draft and published versions of Kulyk Keefer’s writing, including notes, poems, short stories, journal and magazine articles, book reviews, as well as novels and books of poetry including "Travelling ladies" (1992), "Rest harrow" (1992), "The green library" (1996), "Marrying the sea" (1998), "Honey and ashes" (1998), "Thieves" (2004), "The ladies’ lending library" (2007), and "Foreign relations" (2010). Also included in the series are notebooks, photographs from a trip to Ukraine, speaking notes from lectures, and her undergraduate essays.

Medical career files

Series consists of correspondence, notes, journal articles, presentation slides, and draft articles pertaining to Jeanne Randolph's career as a medical doctor in the field of psychiatry with a specialization in obesity and eating disorders. These records document Randolph's certifications and early career in Toronto, participation in research studies and conferences, and research, writing and publications in this area.

Air Farce - business and legal files

Series consists of contracts, financial records, creative side records for home videos, files pertaining to merchandising, legal records documenting the battle with the CRTC about whether Air Farce could be included in Newsworld broadcasts (1995-1997); the discussions between Abbott-Ferguson Productions and the potential move to the CTV network, the Baton - Comedy Channel application, books about Air Farce, etc.

Correspondence

Series consists of Drache’s incoming and outgoing correspondence, mostly pertaining to his academic writing and his work as an instructor at York University and director of the Robarts Centre for Canadian Studies. Some personal correspondence is also part of this series.

Writing and related files

Series consists of pre-publication or draft versions of writing by Mandel for academic periodicals, newspapers and magazines, conferences, public lectures and speeches, on a wide variety of legal and political topics, particularly constitutional law, prison reform, and Canadian and international politics. Included in this series are reference materials and notebooks, as well as scripts co-written with Harry J. Glasbeek for their radio program, “A taste of justice”, and scripts and transcripts pertaining to Mandel’s contributions to a 1983 CBC Radio “Ideas” program.

Correspondence

Series consists of correspondence sent and received by Mandel pertaining to a wide variety of topics, but it primarily concerns his professional life, including his writing, political activism and media appearances. Many files include copies of Mandel’s outgoing letters as well as incoming correspondence.

Memorabilia and photographs

Series consists of photographs, newspaper and magazine clippings, posters, performance notices and programmes, newsletters, certificates, press releases, CVs and biographies pertaining to Maguire’s career as a dancer, choreographer and teacher.

Open College files

The series consists of personal and administrative files of Open College created and/or accumulated by Margaret Norquay including clippings, student packages, contracts, correspondence, notes, diaries, journals, reports and minutes from various projects and memorabilia documenting her role as its founder and as a professor. Series also includes drafts and scripts for Norquay's course "Ethnic Relations in Canada : Understanding People of Another Culture" and audio recordings, transcripts and notes from interviews conducted by Norquay with various ethnic groups as a part of her course work.

"The Truth shows up" research files

Series consists of records created or accumulated by Harvey Cashore and used in the writing of his 2010 book, "The Truth shows up : a reporter's fifteen-year odyssey tracking down the truth about Mulroney, Schreiber and the Airbus scandal." These records, organized and interfiled by date, document the extent and scope of Cashore's research into the Airbus affair which began while he worked in Ottawa as the research associate to investigative journalist John Sawatsky during the 1980s, and continued into the 1990s and 2000s while authoring two books on the Airbus affair and producing several award-winning documentaries on this topic for the CBC's "The Fifth Estate" television program. The series includes: records pertaining to the activities and finances of German businessman Karlheinz Schreiber and his accountant, Giorgio Pelossi; a complete record of Schreiber's Zurich bank accounts, including code-names and rubriks, into which millions of dollars of secret Airbus commissions flowed in and out; Schreiber's personal handwritten daytimers from 1987 to 1996 describing key players in the affair and meetings in Canada and Germany; hundreds of interviews with politicians, bureaucrats, air industry executives, "spin doctors," and other insiders, accompanied by verbatim transcripts; a meticulous record of dozens of interviews with Karlheinz Schreiber conducted over 12 years; documents from a lawsuit brought by Schreiber against Cashore and the CBC in 1996 and 1999 (Schreiber would later pay CBC's legal costs); records pertaining to former Prime Minister Brian Mulroney's 1996 lawsuit against the Canadian government; and testimony from the 2007 House of Commons Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics and the 2009 Oliphant Commission. The files in this series include correspondence, memoranda, research notes and chronologies, interview notes and transcripts, government documents obtained through access to information requests, court documents and transcripts, newspaper and magazine articles, photographs, and audio cassettes. Also included in the series are manuscripts for "The Truth shows up."

York University files

Series consists of records pertaining to Jarrell's work as a professor and administrator at York University. Records include course syllabi and handouts, examinations and assignments, lecture notes, course evaluations, presentation slides, handbooks, a student cookbook, correspondence, reports, photographs, applications, and forms.

Research Files

Series consists of research notes, correspondence, reports, meeting notes, speaking notes for presentations, and grant applications pertaining to Armstrong’s role as either Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator of the following grant-funded, large-scale research projects: “Voices from the Ward” (1992), “Managed Care vs. Managing Care” (1998-2001), “Long-term Care Workers and Workplaces: Comparing Canada and Nordic Europe” (2005-2006), “What Does Quality Health Care Mean to Women? A National Study” (2010-2012), "Nurses at Risk: Exploring gender and race in workplace illness, injury and violence” (2008-2011), “Re-imagining Long-Term Residential Care: An International Study of Promising Practices” (2010-2017), “Healthy Aging in Residential Places” (2012-2015), "Changing Places: Paid and Unpaid Work in Public Places" (2018-2021). This series also consists of research documents pertaining to Armstrong's work on smaller research projects including books, book chapters, articles, and reports.

Personal files

Series consists of personal records created and maintained by Theresa Burke from the 1970s to the 2000s. These records include personal letters, journals, day planners, resumes and covering letters, university essays and notes, poetry, and photographs.

Filmmaking and project files

Series consists of records created or accumulated by Sternberg in the process of her activities as an experimental filmmaker, performer, and artist. Records include project files on complete and incomplete works, including but not limited to "A Story," "Transitions," "Like a Dream That Vanishes," and "Beating," and consist of notes, scripts, shot lists, research materials, grant applications, and correspondence. This series is primarily comprised of 35mm slides and photographs of varying dimensions. The series also includes multiple moving image formats, as well as an envelope of pressed leaves and a box of cloth figures.

Film scripts and production files

Series consists of records accumulated and created by David Charles in his capacity as an on-set dresser, set decorator, set designer, prop master, daily buyer, or production designer for motion picture feature films shot in Toronto, Ontario, from 1970 to 2010. The records in this series are predominantly scripts and assorted production materials. These production materials include photographs, drawings, architectural drawings, signs, shooting schedules, call sheets, crew and cast lists, set decoration reports and forms, invoices, contact lists, location filming permits, location lists, storyboards, set decoration budgets, cast schedules, research notes, production breakdowns, story chronologies, prop lists and set notes, expense reports, set decoration location sheets and inventories.

Publicity files

Series consists of press releases, newsletters, press kits, correspondence and other material used in promoting TDT productions and in promoting the Toronto Dance Theatre itself.

Professorial files

Series consists of records documenting Axelrod's career as a university professor and administrator. Many records pertain in particular to his role as Dean of the Faculty of Education at York University between 2001 and 2008, as well as his work on committees (Ontario Association of Deans of Education, Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations). Included are correspondence, job applications, course outlines and student evaluations for courses taught by Axelrod, copies of research grant applications, past tenure files, photographs, reports, speeches, assessments, conference materials, newspaper and magazine articles.

Correspondence

Series consists of Jarrell's professional correspondence and memoranda, including incoming letters and copies of his outgoing correspondence. These records pertain to Jarrell's work as a York University faculty member, his research and writing projects, his work as the editor of "HSTC Bulletin" (later "Scientia Canadensis"), and his participation as a member of the Canadian Science and Technology Historical Association (CSTHA). Some items in this series are photocopies, and some items have been marked according to subject by Martha Jarrell.

Promotional materials and ephemera

Series consists of promotional materials and ephemera relating to Toronto Greek-Canadian community political and cultural events organized or attended by George Papadatos during his time in Toronto.  Series includes materials relating to the coffee house scene in Toronto; concert tours featuring Greek musicians, for which Papadatos acted as promoter; political events by various pro-democracy groups such as PAK, EAM and Rigas Fereos; theatrical events; exhibitions and cultural festivals (such as The Images of Greece festival, organized by Papadatos); as well as Annual Dances and sporting events. Materials include posters, event tickets, invitations, flyers and programmes. Some items of ephemera can also be found in 2014-044/001(05), 2014-044/001(10) and 2014-044/001(12).

Manuscripts

Series consists of manuscripts and page proofs pertaining to Callaghan's published monographs Beside Still Waters (a re-write of his first novel, The Way the Angel Spreads her Wings), Between Trains, Raise You Ten, and Raise You Twenty. Files pertaining to a writing collaboration with Joe Rosenblatt are also part of this series, as well as scripts for a CBC Television drama, "The man in the tin canoe".
