Writing and production files

Series consist of works written, translated or adapted by Moore including typescripts and drafts for radio plays such as 'Ottawa man' (1960), 'Three enigmas' (1969-1970), and 'The store' (1972), as well as a series of 'Ontario School broadcasts' for the CBC on ancient and Canadian history, literature and the arts. There are also typescripts and drafts of scripts for television both by Moore and by others including, 'Getting in' (1971), 'Catch my death,' 'Crime lab,' as well as various literary works turned into scripts by Moore such as 'The fall' (Camus), 'To tell the truth' (Morley Callaghan), and 'Yesterday the children were dancing' (Gratien Gelinas, translated by Moore). There are files of correspondence, notes, scripts, and background material related to productions with which Moore was associated (1948-1963) and there are audio recordings of various productions including 'Belinda 75,' 'Louis Riel,' and 'Sunshine town.' The series also includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, programmes and other material related to Moore's treatment of 'Johnny Belinda' (based on a play by Elmer Harris), staged at the Charlottetown Festival, as well as scripts, correspondence, musical scores, posters, photographs and other material related to the writing of 'Sunshine town.' The series contains six scrapbooks of Moore's column, 'About the theatre,' from the Toronto Telegram (1959-1960), notes, drafts and manuscripts of Moore's memoirs entitled 'Re-Inventing Myself' and extensive documentation of Mavor Moore and Louis Applebaum's collaboration on the opera 'Erewhon.' It also contains records of Moore's production company Mavor Moore Productions.

The fonds consists of newspaper clippings of Charles Bothwell Pyper's articles in the Telegram together with telegraphic messages that served as 'hard copy' for his articles from foreign posts; correspondence, and notes; and newspaper clippings from several other newspapers. It includes a typescript of 'Chamberlain and his critics,' as well as earlier drafts, typescripts, some with corrections, of a book on Winston Churchill, and drafts of unpublished dramatic productions by Pyper. The vast majority of the fonds consists of newspaper clippings, notes and related material concerning Pyper's journalism, arranged alphabetically by subject. Some of the subjects included in the fonds are: Clement Attlee, Lord Beaverbrook, the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation, Winston Churchill, Joseph E. Davies, Anthony Eden, the League of Nations, Palestine in the post-war years, the Spanish Civil War, the Suez Crisis, the United Nations, and World War II.

The fonds consists of correspondence and papers (1928-1959), arranged chronologically, receipts for monies received from Maurice Duplessis and others, including receipts from organizations, associations and student awards. There are also the proceedings of the meetings of the Public Accounts Committee Inquiry (1936), through which Duplessis exposed the corruption of the Liberal government of the day. The fonds also contains scrapbooks of newspaper clippings relating to political and social developments in Quebec (1929-1949) with concentration on the period, 1934-1936, as well as newspaper clippings relating to the death and funeral of Duplessis. In addition, there is correspondence with and/or concerning several prominent Quebecois including Daniel Johnson, Thibaudeau Rinfret, Msgr. Ferdinand Vandry, Georges Vanier, and companies located in the province (Dominion Textiles, Noranda Mines), and related subjects.

Series consists of records created and accumulated by Theresa Burke in her role as a producer for the CBC program The Fifth Estate. These records pertain to the family history of Gerry Clark, son of Sanford Clark, the Saskatchewan-born boy involved in the Gordon Stewart Northcott serial murders in California. The files in this series consist of copies of court transcripts from the 1929 murder trial of Gordon Stewart Northcott as well as copies of Northcott's prison correspondence and appeal documents. Other records in this series are interview transcripts and notes, correspondence, travel itineraries, production materials, newspaper articles, and notes pertaining to Burke's research about Gerry Clark, who was considered a possible suspect in the 1962 murder of Alexandra Wiwcharuk. The materials in this series may be connected to Burke's work as producer for Fifth Estate documentaries about Wiwcharuk's murder, "Death of a beauty queen" and "The girl from Saskatoon."

These records document Burke's research, production and investigative work for "The fifth estate" documentaries airing from 1994 to 2015. Many of these records pertain to the following documentaries: "The trouble with Evan" (1994), "His word against history" (2000), "Terror" (2001), "Nightmare drug" (2002), "A state of denial : the Bill Sampson story" (2002), "Deathrow.com" (2003), "Death of a beauty queen" (2004), "The big break" (2005), "The Steven Truscott story: moment of truth" (2005), "You be the judge" (2005), "The lady vanishes" (2007), "The girl in Saskatoon" (2008), "Someone got away with murder" (2009), "Broken heroes" (2009), "The legacy of Brendan Burke" (2010), “Behind the wall” (2010), "The devil you know" (2011), "A question of innocence" (2011), "Diagnosis murder" (2012), “The last great escape” (2013), “The interrogation room” (2014), and “Mr. Big stings: cops, criminals and confessions” (2015) . Also included are research materials and manuscripts pertaining to Julian Sher's book, "Until you are dead: Steven Truscott's long ride into history" (2001), on which Burke worked as a research associate, as well as manuscripts and other materials relating to Ty Conn and Burke's book, "Who killed Ty Conn" (2000), co-authored with Linden MacIntyre. Records created and accumulated by Burke in the course of her research about the National Parole Board, the subject of witness protection, and the murder conviction of Mason Jenkins are also part of the fonds, as are a number of files relating to other miscellaneous research projects. Records pertaining to Burke's early career in public relations and marketing at Alliance Entertainment and Norstar Entertainment are included in this fonds, as are administrative records and training materials from the CBC, as well as Burke's personal journals, notebooks, letters and university essays. Records in this fonds are predominantly textual records and audiovisual materials arranged by project. These records include correspondence, interview transcripts, memoranda, copies of court transcripts and documents, copies of medical reports, journal articles, notes and notebooks, production materials including draft scripts, newspaper articles, contact lists, copies of police reports, prisoner records and legal documents, video cassettes (in multiple formats), audio cassettes, as well as computer disks and photographs.

File consists of geological reports of mining prospects in New Brunswick, including a physical description of an arseno-pyrite deposit near Beresford, Gloucester County, and a report on Adams Island in Charlotte County by Captain J.G. Ross, consulting mining engineer, in 1928. File also includes correspondence and sketches related to "Roger Farm," likely in New Brunswick, 1929; six sketches of a mine labelled 'Paramo'; and two sketches of a mine labelled "Upper Mosces," undated.
