The accession consists of 19 boxes of records. 8 series were established: Subject Files: Correspondence & Clippings, Manuscripts, Audio Tapes, Slides, Videos, Photographs and Framed Material, Posters-Paintings-Scrapbooks, Cartographic Materials.

The first two series, Subject Files and Manuscripts were arranged in file folders entitled by Prof. Pollock. The original order was kept and the documents were put into acid neutral file folders and titles were transcribed verbatim. Manuscripts include Pollock's novel Gabriel, plays, poems and the unpublished After the funferal and Soviet journal.

Audio tapes of interviews conducted by Prof. Pollock were not in any particular order. An effort was made to put the related ones together and the titles assigned by Harry J. Pollock were maintained. There are also audio tapes of music for his plays

Slides consist of those that Prof. Pollock used in the plays Night Boat from Dublin and Giacomo de Trieste, these were removed from the boxes and slide carousels and placed in archival slide sheaths. They are listed by play tittle in the original sequence in which they were shown. Duplicate and additional slides are listed according to subject. Titles given by Harry J. Pollock were kept.
The three videocassettes include one entitled Portrait of the artist-is there one who understands me? and two of Japan.

1991-032

Pollock's interests including, James Joyce and Temple Sinai. Most of the file titles in this series were simply transferred from there original folders. The rest of the material in this series came from one file which had no detectable order. This file was sorted by subject, the subject headings were used as file titles.

Two photographs included in this accession make up series 2. One of the photographs was removed from its frame, it is included with its frame backing.

1992-027

The series of correspondence and clippings relate to Pollock's many interests, particularly in Temple Sinai, the James Joyce Society, and travel. The manuscripts are of plays that he wrote and directed, including multiple copies annotated for different purposes. Published material consists of 9 volumes of Thom's Directory (1852-1950) and one volume of The Dublin Almanac and General Register of Ireland (1847). The 15 watercolour paintings are by Jane Golden.

2000-009

Consists of records documenting Applebaum's work as a composer, and with numerous organizations including the Canada Council, SOCAN, the Ontairo Arts Council and CAPAC. Records include correspondence, musical scores, sound recording, audio-visual records, printed material, financial records, collected reports and other material. These records document the theatrical music composition process, as well as the roles of arts administration and advocacy, and together with the balance of the Applebaum fonds, support teaching and research in various aspects of film, theatre, and music studies.

Accession consists of correspondence, programs and musical scores for several Stratford productions, annotated copies of a number of Shakespeare plays, audio recordings of performances of Applebaum's works and recordings of CBC radio programs on which Applebaum was featured as a guest.

These clips depict him as a playful child, trips, and well-attended birthday parties. Looking back, Jean-Pierre recognizes that these parties were a big opportunity for the adults to get together and celebrate. Accession consists of Bruce Allen Powe's diaries, personal correspondence and correspondence, writings, and other files relating to provincial Liberal politics (1960-1965), journals, his M.A. thesis and research files. There are manuscript drafts for his works "The Ice Eaters," "Expresso 67," "The Mounties Always Gets His," "Killing Ground," "The Last Days of the American Empire", "The Aberhart Summer", and other writings along with related correspondence. Also included are manuscripts for reviews, essays, articles, and press clippings of reviews on his published works. In addition, there is some personal correspondence and World War II papers and military service memorabilia.

Accession 1995-034 consists of film elements and related textual and graphic records pertaining to Rhombus Media productions about music, dance and theatre.

Accession 1998-014 [poster collection]

Accession consists of posters accumulated by Issacs. A significant portion of the accession, over 200 posters, pertains to local interest including the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and local and international shows by artists such as Heather Cooper and Michael Snow. Toronto posters also announce events such as the 10th anniversary of the art collective, General Idea, at the CN Tower; an album-release party of the band, Parachute Club; and a call to arms on behalf of the fight against the Spadina Expressway. Many posters also promote local theatre productions including Keanu Reeves' performance in Brad Fraser's 'Wolfboy' in 1984 at the Theatre Passe Muraile and a series of Toronto Workshop posters by Theo Dimson. Other posters are a cross-section of Canada from the Montreal Olympics series, 'Artists-Athletes', and the 1973 Winnipeg Art Gallery exhibition, the Structure of Comic Books, featuring MArvel Comics characters as Nick Nury and Thor. There are 74 international posters, the largest groups are those from Paris in the 1950s and 1960s including a poster featuring George Bracqu's 'Theogonie.' There are also several gallery posters from Amsterdam, New York, Chicago and Minneapolis representing artists such as Jim Dine, Robert Rauschenberg, Claes Oldenberg and Christo.

Accession 1999-031 consists of master negatives of the finished works of all its film productions to date (1999), together with textual records relevant to the film production process. In addition to the master elements, selected production elements from “Yo-Yo Ma, Inspired by Bach: Suites #1, 3, 5,”, “Hong Kong Symphony: Heaven Earth, Mankind” (1997), “A Tale of Tanglewood: Peter Grimes Reborn” (1997), “The War Symphonies: Shastokovich Against Stalin” (1996-1997) have been retained for their additional archival and research value.

Accession 2007-055

Accession consists of documents created or accumulated by Barry Callaghan that reflect most aspects of his personal life and literary career. Exercise books, manuscript music scores, research notes on modern drama, poetry and literature, and letters written to his mother pertain to his education at the secondary, post-secondary, and graduate levels, while manuscripts for short stories, poetry, and a novel represent his early creative endeavours. The fonds includes extensive correspondence dealing with his personal and family relationships, as well as his active involvement with an international community of poets, writers, and artists. Teaching files include course outlines, essay topics, reading lists and bibliographies on North American and Russian literature, examination questions, and notes regarding his teaching methods at York University from 1970 to 2003. Journalism files deal with his travels with Pierre Elliott Trudeau in 1968, the crisis involving the Front de liberation du Quebec and implementation of the War Measures Act in 1970, culture, politics and economics in Quebec, and Callaghan's works of political and social commentary for CTV and CBC. The records of Exile Editions make up a significant portion of the fonds, and include manuscripts for books, page proofs, and correspondence. These files show the creative process in considerable detail, and in particular Callaghan's work as an editor and translator. Administrative records for the publisher consist of catalogues, promotional material, writers' guidelines, grant applications, financial documents, and reviews of publications. Callaghan's endeavours as a travel journalist are documented through research notes, manuscripts for articles, correspondence, and promotional literature from various attractions at the locations he visited, including museums, theatres, and tracks for horse racing, 1978 to 1995. Manuscripts and annotated page proofs for Callaghan's Hogg poems, short stories, novels, memoir, and non-fiction trace the development of these works, and in particular his skill and attention to detail as a wordsmith. Callaghan's involvement with radio and television is represented by a variety of sound and moving image recordings, including audiotapes of his interviews with Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry, videotapes of his television shows for CTV's "W5" and CBC's "Weekend," and original film pertaining to the war in Palestine in 1970, his interview with Angela Davis in 1972, youth culture in California in 1974, John Updike, and "The blues." The fonds also includes considerable material created by or involving Morley Callaghan, including literary agreements, royalty statements, stories by and about Morley Callaghan, manuscripts for several books published by Exile Editions ("Joy in heaven," "The lost and found stories," "The man with the coat," and "A passion in Rome") that provide an understanding of the close working relationship between Morley and Barry Callaghan, letters of sympathy and funeral notices following Morley's death in 1990, and scripts for the CBC movie, "Hemingway vs. Callaghan," 2002-2003.

Accession consists of administrative records related to the operation of the Obsidian Theatre Company, and includes promotional and production material for plays mounted by the theatre and its associates such as "the Polished Hoe", "Late | Black Medea", "Joyous Celebration", "the Adventures of a Black Girl in Search of God", "the Piano Lesson", "Two Can Play", "the Monument", and "Consecrated Ground."

Project and donor(s) contributed description follows: "Here, November 2nd ,1995, at the SkyDome (presently the Rogers Centre) the Pak rehearses the same routine over and over in preparation for the opening performance at the first-ever Toronto Raptors game. On the day of the performance, Azada recalls pushing through the stomach flu to perform, her hard work could not go to waste, and it was a very exciting time. They had already performed at the Toronto Raptors opening dinner gala the previous summer. The Junior Dance Pak continued to dance at games and other functions for some time, though Azada only stayed with them for about a year and a half to two years."

The fonds consists of printed material, correspondence, photographs, slides, and related material of the Centre for Experimental Art and Design. The correspondence includes: correspondence with artists, galleries and other arts groups in Canada and overseas, dealing with CEAC exhibitions, CEAC-sponsored travelling shows, and communications concerning gallery events. There is also material dealing with granting agencies, including the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council. Also included is correspondence relating to the OCA and CC decisions to suspend funding to CEAC, letters of reaction from CEAC members and supporters. The fonds also has grant proposals and covering documentation, and other material. The fonds also contains various documents written by members of the collective defining the 'new ideology' which would usurp the cultural and political elites, define a post-modern aesthetic. There is also material on related artistic and intellectual ideas. There are newspaper clippings of CEAC events and exhibitions both from Canadian and foreign newspapers, invitations to events, flyers and other announcements of forthcoming events, and clippings about other performance and avant-garde arts in other cities and countries. The photographs and slides concern performances at CEAC, including material related to 'Crash and burn'.

Project and donor(s) contributed description follows: "'The year is 1990, and the Burke Family is on vacation in Bristol, England. This is filmed where Leah's father, Sam grew up. All of Leah's aunts and uncles had houses in the same neighbourhood, and this is a family reunion of sorts. Here, Leah, age eight or nine, dances to ska and lovers rock with her mother, Rita and Great Aunt Sweeney, while her dad is seen off in the background, and her older brother, Jason, films.

Her dad has roots in Jamaica and her mother has roots in Guyana. At different points in their lives both immigrated to England, and later met each other there. Her parents then set off to Canada during the Pierre Trudeau years in 1972 to raise a family. The Burkes now call many places home.'"

Financial records

Series consists of financial statements, correspondence with banks and insurance companies, royalty statements and other income statements, household budgets including mortgage statements and insurance payments, and extensive income tax information for each year including anything deemed by Margaret Laurence to be of relevance for tax purposes.

The fonds consists of Helen Lucas' correspondence, scrapbooks, photographs, The Diary Series (1971-1978), and Relationship Drawings (1978-1981) (both of which include 246 charcoal drawings, 40 sketches, 34 drawings, 5 etchings, 47 lithographs, 3 framed serigraphs, 1 sketchbook, and 1 pastel on paper); preliminary drawings for Angelica (Toronto: Kakabeka Publishing Co.,1973) and Genesis; twelve original collage drawings for the book co-authored by Helen Lucas and Margaret Laurence entitled The Christmas Birthday Story (1981) complemented with letters from Laurence while they were collaborating on the book; original prints (1970s); a sketchbook (1971); and Drawing Dedicated to my Daughter. Lucas provides an accompanying narrative to many of the drawings, giving a context for the works and an account of their evolution between 1971 and 1979. The initial sketchbook pages are also included, portraying intimate personal images which she likens to 'finding the achievement of my own voice'.
