It also includes personal and professional correspondence, clippings of stories about Malyon and/or reviews of her work, lecture notes and material related to Malyon's readings of her work, grant applications, writer-in-residence application as well as other material that documents her career as a writer.

Accession 2008-032 includes the editorial files for "Imagination in action : thoughts on creativity by painters, sculptors, musicians, poets, novelists, teachers, actors," a book edited by Malyon that was published by Mercury Press in 2007. The project began with interviews with Marjory Smart and Milt Jewell in 1990-1991 to explore the concept of creativity, and was resumed in 2005 when Malyon invited submissions from many people who created original works in different disciplines. The records files include correspondence, edited manuscripts, annotated page proofs, and correspondence with the publisher regarding the contract, design, and promotion of the book.

Accession 2009-044 consists of manuscripts for even-numbered brunches, copy edited page proofs, and promotional material for the book written with bill bissett, "griddle talk : a yeer uv bill n carol dewing brunch" (Talonbooks, 2009), as well as documents relating to Malyon's work as an instructor at the Maritime Writers' Workshop in 1998, her literary readings in 2008, and correspondence with Fred Cogswell and K.D. Miller.

Accession 2016-040 consists of draft manuscripts for a collection of short stories ("Underneath the Water With the Fish") and a book about writing "Writing Matters" as well as promotional material and reviews about previously published work.

Fonds consists of textual records about the life of George E.A. Reid, including birth, baptismal, and death certificates, high school yearbooks, personal correspondence, and personal papers from throughout adolescence and adult life, as well as material relevant to his professional working life. The records also include information about his family, including the diary writings of his mother, Bessie Ellis Reid, and his wife, Olive Reid. Fonds also consists of correspondence sent between family members and received by family members. Also included are 12 large scrapbooks containing cards, photographs, newspaper clippings, and other material created by, collected and arranged by George E.A. Reid and family. Also included in the fonds are Reid's personal and family photographs and various forms of Reid's artwork and music, including drawings, sketches, paintings, graphic print artwork, and some original musical compositions. The fonds also contains 35mm and large-format colour transparencies taken by George E.A. Reid of the family and flower gardens, as well as a binder containing original animation cells from "Life with Cecil" (1960), a short film animated by Reid, and other artwork including hand-painted cartoon movie title stills, sketches on tracing paper, and other hand-drawn cartoons. Also, there are 18 8mm film reels of home movies and family trips, as well as 2 audio cassettes that include Dianne Reid's interview with George's older brother Ted, and a recorded musical collaboration between George E.A. Reid and his youngest daughter, Stephanie.

A book and pamphlet collected by George E. A. Reid through his schooling and work and donated with the fonds have been added to Special Collections, and are accessible through York University Libraries' catalogue.

Fonds consists of records pertaining to the personal and professional life of Italian-Canadian artist Luigi Nasato. These records, dating from 1931 to 2015, document Nasato’s early life and education in Istrana, Italy, as well as his emigration to first Argentina and then Toronto, Ontario. The records primarily pertain to Nasato’s artistic output and include several hundred drawings, sketches, paintings, and preliminary studies created over the course of his career, as well as a number of awards granted to Nasato on the basis of his artistic contributions. Many of the artistic works included in the fonds relate to projects completed in Toronto and environs, particularly to mosaic projects created by Nasato at a number of churches in the region. Fonds also includes notes on art history and artistic technique created by Nasato as both a student and professional artist, as well as miscellaneous textual and financial records pertaining to the practicalities of his artistic career. Also included in the fonds is an extensive collection of photographs and clippings, compiled by Nasato over the course of his life, most of which document works of art created by Nasato and others.

Fonds consists of records that document the relationships of the York Region Alliance to End Homelessness with community service agencies in York Region, its approach to securing funding and the partnerships developed through research projects, and its role in education and advocacy campaigns for people experiencing homelessness. The records include minutes from general meetings and sub-committees, and funded and unfunded grant application files. The fonds also consists of advocacy undertaken by YRAEH with other agencies and levels of government, membership lists, newspaper clippings and other media coverage, YRAEH publications including research studies, administrative records, educational projects and workshops, and publications related to human services in York Region and beyond. 

Collection consists of conference material, documentary film footage, and textual material related to the scholarship, legacy and cultural impact of Barbara Godard, donated to the archives by former students, colleagues, family members and friends.

Fonds consists of materials created and accumulated by George Papadatos in the course of his activities as a member of the Toronto Greek Canadian political, arts and cultural community while living in exile in Canada during the Greek military junta of 1967-1974. It includes records relating to his work as a journalist and newspaper editor (as editor of Metanastis and contributor to Ta Nea, amongst other publications); political activist; music promoter, event organizer and co-owner of the Trojan Horse coffee house; East York community service worker; and as tutor of Modern Greek Studies at the University of Toronto (Scarborough College).

The fonds largely consists of photographs, newspapers, promotional material, posters, sound and video recordings. Many of these items were collected by Papadatos to document the coffee house scene on the Danforth, the Greek musical acts who toured Canada and the United States in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as student organizing and protests related to local opposition to the military dictatorship in Greece. The records reflect the impact that the cultural and political activities of the Greek community in Canada had on political affairs in Greece. The fonds also includes handwritten and typed correspondence and other printed material created or received by George Papadatos, as well as photographic material from Papadatos' later life in Greece, where he operated an antiquarian bookstore. Records in the fonds have been arranged into five series based on record genre. See series level descriptions for details.

Fonds consists of the professional records of Jean Augustine, including documents, reports, speech notes, press releases and publications relating to her activities as a community activist and volunteer; a elementary school teacher; her administration of the Metro Toronto Housing Authority; her participation on various international, national, provincial and municipal advocacy boards organizations and associations; and her activities as a federal politician and member of cabinet.

Accession 2007-052 includes photographs of Judith Cowan receiving the Governor General's Literary Award in 2004.

Fonds consists of handwritten and typescript manuscripts for Falek Zolf's memoirs, handwritten notes for his memoirs, newspaper articles about Zolf and the Jewish literary community in Winnipeg, a report that quotes from his work in a review of the historical context associated with the Canada Post Corporation's Rural Conversion Program in Saskatchewan, a review of the Yiddish edition of Zolf's autobiography, "On foreign soil," and information regarding its publication in English.

Fonds consists of copies of published and unpublished papers, journal articles, conference papers and reviews written by Lessem, course material, a copy of his M.Litt thesis, "The Style and Structure of Frescobaldi's Keyboard Ricercari and Fantasias", and other material that documents his career as an academic.

The fonds consists of material of Dennis Charles Hefferon relating to the Law Society of Upper Canada's Special Committee on Legal Education, which includes briefs from teachers, students and practitioners, background research materials, minutes of meetings, correspondence, and a draft copy of the final report, 1970-1972. There is also material from the Osgoode Law School Faculty Council, including agendas (1959-1966) and minutes (1964-1971), memoranda, the Dean's Annual Report (1962-1966) and reports of committees. Fonds consists of records pertaining to Yvonne Vera’s activities as a prominent African writer of English fiction and as a student and teacher of English literature while in Canada. Records include finished copies, typescripts and drafts of published and unpublished works; copies of articles written by and about Vera; personal and professional correspondence; personal memorabilia. Fonds includes a selection of books both by and belonging to Vera and a copy of the Vera biography, “Petal Thoughts,” by Ericah Gwetai. Fonds consists of Professor John Bosher's notes created during four decades of research in provincial, national, and international archives concerning the lives and activities of merchants, officials, bankers and ships' captains involved in the trade between France and Canada during the 17th and 18th centuries when Canada was a French colony. Also included are research notes developed from the records held in private collections of notarial minutes concerning property and the lives of people active in trade between France and Canada, and copies of secondary literature devoted to this topic.

These records document the research and writing of Women Working the NAFTA Food Chain (1999), Tangled Routes: Women, Work and Globalization on the Tomato Trail (2002), and VIVA! Fonds consists of the administrative records of the Caribbean Cultural Committee created and accumulated by Kenneth Shah in his role as a founding member, including material such as correspondence; band registration forms and regulations for band competitions; constitution drafts; financial documents; meeting minutes; Shah’s sketches for parade costume designs; and program proposals. Other materials include issues of newspapers and magazines that provided media coverage of the Caribana Festival each year; Shah’s personal photo and film collection documenting Caribana and other Carnival festivals in Trinidad and Tobago, Toronto, Montreal, and New York; Shah’s mas bands throughout the years; and promotional material for Caribana such as brochures, pamphlets, festival guides, event programmes, and flyers.

Fonds consists of records created and accumulated by John D. Harbron, his wife Sheila E. Harbron, and some other members of their extended family. The collection mainly consists of John D. Harbron's correspondence, newspaper articles, and his personal, professional, and academic research and writings about Cuba and Latin America. The files also include essays and speeches by Harbron, as well as correspondence with editors and dignitaries, both national and international. The fonds also includes a large number of articles written by John D. Harbron for Canadian and international publications. The files belonging to Sheila Harbron contain personal records as well as genealogical research files, which include records and photographs tracing the Buck, Harbron, Hardy, Lester, Matheson, and Ryerson families.

Additionally, John D. Harbron's Cuban and Latin American book and pamphlet collection has been added to the Special Collections.

Fonds consists of digitized photographic prints and negatives, as well as audiovisual recordings, film and video taken by members of York University's Computing and Network Services, as part of their responsibilities as the university's official photographers and videographers in the 1960s through the early 2000s.

Collection consists of published works including books, journals (articles excerpted from issues as well as runs of serials), Canadian and British government documents, almanacs, gazetteers, directories, newsletters, and newspapers that describe the social, economic, and legal factors influencing Jewish life in Canada (especially for the period prior to Confederation), the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. These works include bibliographies, biographies, commemorative publications, local histories and reproductions of primary documents that pertain to Jewish involvement in the trade of the British Empire, migration and settlement, professions such as medicine and education, and studies of the Jewish experience in Canadian and international communities from the 18th to the 20th centuries. Series S00251, Jewish manuscripts, contains original correspondence, financial and legal documents, and research notes by the Godfreys regarding Jewish families in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes that provides information regarding their involvement in economic, cultural and political affairs, including the fur trade. The series features 11 letters between John A. Macdonald and George Benjamin, who represented North Hastings as a Member of Parliament between 1856 and his retirement in 1863. Series S00252, Biographical research files, contains the research notes, correspondence, and copies of correspondence, abstracts of land titles and other instruments of ownership, property plans, and wills compiled by Sheldon and Judy Godfrey in preparation to write books on Canadian Jewish history and articles for the "Dictionary of Canadian Biography," as well as speeches to various historical and genealogical societies. The series was arranged by the Godfreys into sections using broad geographical areas (Upper Canada, Lower Canada, and the Maritimes), and then by the names of individuals and families. Series S00253 consists of unbound issues of 19th century newspapers, which contain advertisements and notices concerning Jewish businesses in various parts of Canada. Donation made in 2006 and 2007 expand the holdings for the books and archival series, and includes a wide range of British and Canadian documents that reflect the breadth of the Godfreys' collecting interests. The donation made in 2007 strengthened the collection's holdings of 18th and 19th-century newspapers from Canada (particularly Quebec, Montreal, and Toronto) and the United Kingdom, and added almanacs from New England.

The fonds consists of a leather bound handwritten collection of essays by Charles Nesbit, 'Lectures on logic,' delivered in April-August, 1791, presumably at Dickenson College, Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Fonds consists of records created and accumulated by various members of the CIBPA Toronto, including general managers, office managers and association presidents, from its inception in 1952 to 2007. The records in this fonds document the CIBPA's management of its finances, communication with its membership, the nature of its governance structure, fundraising, the organization of social and special events, professional development and networking meetings, and its heritage and cultural preservation initiatives. Files in this fonds include textual records such as correspondence, financial documents, membership files, newspaper clippings, minutes, agendas, notices, reports, questionnaires, newsletters, interview transcripts and membership lists, as well as photographs, computer disks and videocassettes.

Collection consists of archival material included in the Wyndham Lewis Collection. Consisting of batches of letters from Lewis' widow, Anne Wyndham Lewis (Froanna), news clippings on various aspects of Lewis' public activities (book reviews, criticism, artwork, obituaries), and promotional material relating to his publications (publishers' advertisements, inserts, and other ephemera).

The fonds documents Terence William Barker’s activities as minister in the Jehovah Church. These records include material related to the Assemblies of the Jehovah's Witnesses (1961-1972); correspondence, reports and newspaper clippings concerning the issue of blood transfusions; the disassociation of Barker from the Witnesses; and records of his ministry with 'Watchtower' magazine. There is also material on the Process Church of the Final Judgement, which consists of correspondence between Barker and other members, records of the Toronto chapter steering committee, contact list of Ontario members and followers, copies of articles for publication in their journal, and a typewritten copy of an unpublished article by Barker, 'Is the Process Church of the Final Judgement Christian? A possible approach' [1971?]. Included in the fonds are speeches delivered while he was engaged in the Jehovah Witness program and talks on religious topics, copies of the 'Yearbook of the Jehovah's Witnesses,' (1945-1976); several editions of 'New World translation of the Holy Scriptures,' (1955-1970), several Witness tracts, incomplete runs of 'Awake,' (1949-1984) including bound volumes (1961-1972), 'Informant,' (1949-1954), 'Kingdom ministry,' (1957-1972), and 'The watchtower,' (1936-1984, incomplete run) and bound copies (1961-1972 - complete runs). In addition, there are reports of the Assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses (1946-1969), as well as song books, pamphlets and related material. For the Process Church of the Final Judgement, there are copies of 'Foundation,' and pamphlets including 'The Processeans,' [newsletter] (1972-1974). Also included is a photocopied (corrected in hand) typewritten manuscript by Barker of 'The time of the end: on the trail of the Final Age: Victorian to Aquarian' (1971-1973) and a photocopied, typewritten manuscript of Barker's 'The king of the North and the king of the South: apocalypticism and international politics' (1972-1975), both of which were unpublished.

Fonds consists of records related to Campbell's work as a director and producer with the CBC and with other broadcasters. As a director, Campbell's responsibilities included those immediate to the production of an episode or program, such as directing performers and crew. As a producer, Campbell was responsible for the overall creative direction of a program, as well as the management of technical, financial and human resources. Records include copies of scripts, production notes and reviews, and files related to productions and office administration. Fonds also contains papers pertaining to "Anne of Green Gables -- the musical," including requests to perform the musical and any modifications to the script, and copies of legal documents related to the use and licensing of Anne of Green Gables.

Fonds consists of production elements, promotional materials and recorded and transcribed interviews with subjects for the tv cooking series or ''docu-comedy' "Loving Spoonfuls" created and produced by Allan Novak, that aired from 2000-2004. The show featured Canadian grandmothers from various ethnic, cultural and vocational backgrounds.

The fonds consists of a taped interview conducted by Mr. John Hardy (of the York University Archives) with John Conway together with transcriptions of the interview and some subsequent correspondence between the two (1975). In addition, there are copies of correspondence between Conway and the editor of the Globe and Mail concerning an article in the paper and a copy of a 'Report to the Board of Governors on the college system at York University,' (May 1970) by Conway. For the Ontario Advisory Committee on Confederation there are verbatim minutes of meetings (1965-1970), as well as background reading and reports, memoranda and resolutions prepared by and for the committee. The prepared papers discuss economic, cultural, and constitutional issues. The background material consists of published proceedings of federal-provincial conferences (Confederation for Tomorrow), material submitted to royal commissions (Bilingualism and Biculturalism), newspaper articles, articles published in academic journals, government reports and related material.

Fonds consists of personal correspondence, including those documenting Zimmerman's receipt of a teaching award and her appointment as Advisor to the University on the Status of Women. Fonds also consists of correspondence and other documents regarding Zimmerman's involvement during and after what is known as the Freeman affair while Advisor to the University on the Status of Women.

Fonds consists of records created and maintained by Alexander Israel Wittenberg, pertaining to his career as a mathematician, university professor and researcher of mathematical education, mathematical philosophy and general educational policies. The fonds includes Wittenberg’s correspondence with leading scientists, mathematicians and education specialists from across Europe and North America, reflecting his involvement with research pertaining to these issues, as well as to various other initiatives, debates and policy discussions. Other series in the fonds contain records relating to the academic courses that Wittenberg developed and taught and his involvement with the governance of York University during his tenure as a faculty member and which attest to his vision regarding the University’s future pedagogical direction; records from his time as a student in Zurich; most of his scholarly output and public engagements since the late 1940s and until his death in 1965; and some sound recordings containing radio broadcasts made by Wittenberg. The fonds also contains several personal records of both Wittenberg and his close family members, as well as photographs and newspaper clippings.

Upon his death, Wittenberg left behind him several unfinished projects. Amongst these are two manuscripts, the first, titled “Education: the unfulfilled promise,” is based on a series of lectures that he broadcasted on CBC radio during March and April 1965. The second manuscript, “Number – a case study in knowledge,” is based on an interdisciplinary mathematical-philosophical course that Wittenberg delivered to first- and second-year students at York University. Also included in the collection are initial notes and drafts relating to two other projects that Wittenberg was planning: a biography of Albert Einstein whom he perceived as a symbol for the ability to successfully combine scientific excellence with strong and unbending moral values, and a university-level textbook on vector algebra.

The fonds documents the journalistic activities of the "Toronto Telegram" and its predecessor, the "Evening telegram". The fonds includes photographs, scrapbooks and clippings.

The fonds includes extensive correspondence dealing with his personal and family relationships, as well as his active involvement with an international community of poets, writers, and artists. Teaching files include course outlines, essay topics, reading lists and bibliographies on North American and Russian literature, examination questions, and notes regarding his teaching methods at York University from 1970 to 2003. Journalism files deal with his travels with Pierre Elliott Trudeau in 1968, the crisis involving the Front de liberation du Quebec and implementation of the War Measures Act in 1970, culture, politics and economics in Quebec, and Callaghan's works of political and social commentary for CTV and CBC. The records of Exile Editions make up a significant portion of the fonds, and include manuscripts for books, page proofs, and correspondence. These files show the creative process in considerable detail, and in particular Callaghan's work as an editor and translator. Administrative records for the publisher consist of catalogues, promotional material, writers' guidelines, grant applications, financial documents, and reviews of publications. Callaghan's endeavours as a travel journalist are documented through research notes, manuscripts for articles, correspondence, and promotional literature from various attractions at the locations he visited, including museums, theatres, and tracks for horse racing, 1978 to 1995. Manuscripts and annotated page proofs for Callaghan's Hogg poems, short stories, novels, memoir, and non-fiction trace the development of these works, and in particular his skill and attention to detail as a wordsmith. Callaghan's involvement with radio and television is represented by a variety of sound and moving image recordings, including audiotapes of his interviews with Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry, videotapes of his television shows for CTV's "W5" and CBC's "Weekend," and original film pertaining to the war in Palestine in 1970, his interview with Angela Davis in 1972, youth culture in California in 1974, John Updike, and "The blues." The fonds also includes considerable material created by or involving Morley Callaghan, including literary agreements, royalty statements, stories by and about Morley Callaghan, manuscripts for several books published by Exile Editions ("Joy in heaven," "The lost and found stories," "The man with the coat," and "A passion in Rome") that provide an understanding of the close working relationship between Morley and Barry Callaghan, letters of sympathy and funeral notices following Morley's death in 1990, and scripts for the CBC movie, "Hemingway vs. Callaghan," 2002-2003.

The fonds mainly documents Ernesto Vinci's career as a singer and his activities as a voice teacher at the Halifax Ladies College and Conservatory of Music, the University of Toronto, and at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Records found from 1999 onwards are of the more personal variety and include personal and family correspondence between Vinci and his wife, and Vinci and his parents and parents-in-law, and other relatives during the 1930s as they tried to escape Germany. There is some correspondence regarding Vinci's efforts to sponsor his sister-in-law and niece after the Second World War.

Collection contains digital and analogue home movies submitted to and digitized by Home Made Visible, a nation-wide project by the Regent Park Film Festival. The project collected movies from visible minority families and Indigenous peoples in Canada. Footage consists of everyday life including children playing and family trips, and celebrations including birthdays and holidays.

Fonds consists of records that resulted from Ruth Dworin's activities as a music promoter, queer activist, community organizer and business manager, as well as her personal life and interests. The fonds includes correspondence, diaries, calendars, files related to her production company, Womynly Way, and files related to her work as business manager of This Magazine and Canadian Woman Studies. Recordings include performances from the Women's Music Festival, Berkeley World Music Festival, and the Michigan Women's Music Festival.

Fonds consists of correspondence, contracts, newspaper articles, and musical arrangements created or accumulated by Jack Kane between 1950 and his death in 1961, with some material added or reproduced in subsequent years. The letters focus on his relationship with his fans across Canada and in the United States, particularly during the late 1950s and early 1960s while Kane was appearing on television. The correspondence deals with the popular reaction to Kane's music (including differences in generational tastes between classical and jazz music) and the aspirations of amateur song writers, performers and often their parents seeking advice on getting into show business; much of it was answered in sometimes lengthy letters that include Kane's insights on composing and his decision to stay in Canada after achieving success in New York. One file contains promotional material and contracts with the CBC for "Music makers '58" and "Music '60"; the contracts list the musicians who played with Kane, such as Moe Kaufman, Ellis McClintock, Murray Ginsberg, and John and Joe Niosi. Photographs include promotional portraits and images of Kane with Steve Lawrence and Duke Ellington. This graphic material is considerably supplemented by a photocopied album of newspaper clippings that trace Kane's career on radio and television from 1950 to 1961, as well as national coverage of his death. Three audio discs capture two of Kane's original compositions in 1950 and 1951, as well as his first and last recordings with commercial labels. The bulk of the fonds consists of Kane's musical arrangements with manuscript annotations, arranged by the title of the score and usually attributed to the television show on which it was performed.

Fonds consists of records accumulated and retained by Malcolmson and Barber and include copies of the Waffle Newsletter, documents pertaining to the NDP convention in Winnipeg in October 1969, resolutions prepared by the Waffle movement for consideration by riding associations, union locals and youth clubs, minutes of meetings of the National Waffle organization, miscellaneous items pertaining to various Waffle groups from British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Toronto in particular, discussion and draft policy papers, correspondence between Wafflers, and an off-air excerpt of a CBC documentary about the challenge from the Waffle at the 1969 NDP Convention. Fonds also includes Barber's research notes pertaining to the Liberal Party of Manitoba during the 1960s, and copies of newsletters and Liberal Party conference delegate lists collected by Barber as a member of the Manitoba Young Liberal Association, and a book on Manitoba politics containing a chapter written by Barber on Manitoba's Liberals, 2010.

Fonds consists of material that documents Feldbrill's personal and professional life and includes correspondence from friends, family and colleagues, including letters from Murray Adaskin, Sir Ernest MacMillan, Harry Somers, John Weinzweig and others, fan mail, programmes, pamphlets, newspaper and magazine articles related to his work as a violinist and/or conductor, contracts and biographical material. In addition, it includes a series of scrapbooks maintained by Feldbrill that documents his professional career from 1940 to the present day. There is considerable correspondence between Feldbrill and his wife Zelda Mann that documents their courtship, the couple's life together, and descriptions of Feldbrill's travels. There is a substantial amount of material related to his performances with the Toronto and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestras and to the years he spent working and teaching in Japan.
