Fonds consists of 327 letters written by Liisa Lumiala to her friend Terttu Hansen between 1943-1979, ending a few months before Liisa's death from cancer. The first set of letters until 7 March 1948 were written from various places in Finland, as Liisa and her family were moved around by the government from one residence to another. The next set of letters, covering the time period 22 March 1948 to 20 July 1948 were written from various locations in Sweden, where Liisa and her daughter Tytti were waiting to receive their immigration papers to move to Canada.The final set, beginning 30 August 1948 were written in Canada, again from various locations and addresses around Port Arthur, Fort William and Toronto. This collection of letters provides insight into the day-to-day life of a Finnish immigrant woman who moved to Canada to create a new life for herself with her husband and family after World War II.

Callaghan's endeavours as a travel journalist are documented through research notes, manuscripts for articles, correspondence, and promotional literature from various attractions at the locations he visited, including museums, theatres, and tracks for horse racing, 1978 to 1995. Manuscripts and annotated page proofs for Callaghan's Hogg poems, short stories, novels, memoir, and non-fiction trace the development of these works, and in particular his skill and attention to detail as a wordsmith. Callaghan's involvement with radio and television is represented by a variety of sound and moving image recordings, including audiotapes of his interviews with Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry, videotapes of his television shows for CTV's "W5" and CBC's "Weekend," and original film pertaining to the war in Palestine in 1970, his interview with Angela Davis in 1972, youth culture in California in 1974, John Updike, and "The blues." The fonds also includes considerable material created by or involving Morley Callaghan, including literary agreements, royalty statements, stories by and about Morley Callaghan, manuscripts for several books published by Exile Editions ("Joy in heaven," "The lost and found stories," "The man with the coat," and "A passion in Rome") that provide an understanding of the close working relationship between Morley and Barry Callaghan, letters of sympathy and funeral notices following Morley's death in 1990, and scripts for the CBC movie, "Hemingway vs. Callaghan," 2002-2003. Fonds consists of correspondence, contracts, newspaper articles, and musical arrangements created or accumulated by Jack Kane between 1950 and his death in 1961, with some material added or reproduced in subsequent years. The letters focus on his relationship with his fans across Canada and in the United States, particularly during the late 1950s and early 1960s while Kane was appearing on television. The correspondence deals with the popular reaction to Kane's music (including differences in generational tastes between classical and jazz music) and the aspirations of amateur song writers, performers and often their parents seeking advice on getting into show business; much of it was answered in sometimes lengthy letters that include Kane's insights on composing and his decision to stay in Canada after achieving success in New York. One file contains promotional material and contracts with the CBC for "Music makers '58" and "Music '60"; the contracts list the musicians who played with Kane, such as Moe Kaufman, Ellis McClintock, Murray Ginsberg, and John and Joe Niosi. Photographs include promotional portraits and images of Kane with Steve Lawrence and Duke Ellington. This graphic material is considerably supplemented by a photocopied album of newspaper clippings that trace Kane's career on radio and television from 1950 to 1961, as well as national coverage of his death. Three audio discs capture two of Kane's original compositions in 1950 and 1951, as well as his first and last recordings with commercial labels. The bulk of the fonds consists of Kane's musical arrangements with manuscript annotations, arranged by the title of the score and usually attributed to the television show on which it was performed.

Records created and accumulated by Burke in the course of her research about the National Parole Board, the subject of witness protection, and the murder conviction of Mason Jenkins are also part of the fonds, as are a number of files relating to other miscellaneous research projects. Records pertaining to Burke's early career in public relations and marketing at Alliance Entertainment and Norstar Entertainment are included in this fonds, as are administrative records and training materials from the CBC, as well as Burke's personal journals, notebooks, letters and university essays. Records in this fonds are predominantly textual records and audiovisual materials arranged by project. These records include correspondence, interview transcripts, memoranda, copies of court transcripts and documents, copies of medical reports, journal articles, notes and notebooks, production materials including draft scripts, newspaper articles, contact lists, copies of police reports, prisoner records and legal documents, video cassettes (in multiple formats), audio cassettes, as well as computer disks and photographs.

Fonds consists of drawings, photographs, posters, and textual documents created by or for Fred and Glenn Moffatt in the course of their careers as industrial designers. The holdings include: Fred Moffatt’s artwork created for his courses at Central Technical School and the Ontario College of Art in Toronto between 1926 and 1933; graphic material and textual records used in the development of product literature, packaging, and advertising material for print media and point-of-purchase displays for various clients but especially for household electrical appliances manufactured by the Canadian General Electric Company Limited and Black & Decker Canada Incorporated, 1933 to 1998; and drawings that track the development of appliances, in particular electric kettles, from conceptual designs to the technical drawings required for manufacturing from the late 1930s to 2001. The fonds also includes award certificates, a small amount of correspondence regarding design projects, and information about F.E. Moffatt Limited.

The fonds consists of correspondence to Paul Sullivan from family members, including 22 letters from cousin Vernon Sullivan written between 1911-1915 and describing the daily life, concerns, and opinions of a young man first as a farm worker, and then teacher, on the prairies immediately prior to enlisting to fight in World War I at the age of 16. There are also ca. 40 letters from brother Edgar Sullivan written between 1914-1943 describing the life of a homesteader who has moved to Saskatchewan to homestead and operate a business during difficult economic times. The fonds also includes diaries (1915-1971), municipal tax notices (1886-1961), personal correspondence, family wills, deeds and mortgages (from 1848), some business papers, 4 newspapers, a child's book, ca. 15 photographs and 3 business ledgers (1934-1950).
